Re: 3 Liter engine of Lancia Kappa versus 164 Q4
Thanks Rolf!
After all I have a Q4 and they are pretty rare. I really would like to get the proper engine back in, that is the 230 horsepower one.
I hesitate.Worti wrote:I have an Engine from a Super 24V

Thanks Arjen!
I have no idea whether the flange geometry for the six-speed Getrac gear is the same as the five-speed one.

I am worried about the gearbox attachement.164 TD wrote:I have seen one build in in a 24V; the core of the engine is the same.

3 Liter engine of Lancia Kappa versus 164 Q4
To repeat it: My Q4 engine broke down and I need another Q4 engine (3l V6 24v 170 KW). My search brought up a 3l V6 24v engine from a Lancia Kappa, which is known to be a "reduced" Alfa engine. This candidate has been altered already to the big air intake and is running well. I need expert help to a...

Re: Noisy top end
Hello Marino! I have a "project" thread here in this forum where I reported the work. You'll find it in the " Board Index " under " Projects => 164 Q4 !964 " The report itself consists of three postings, which appear on page 2 (of 7). - the first one was written on 18. Jan. 2013 - the second on 24. ...

Re: The work never ends
I cannot rebuild this engine, since the engine block itself is damaged. Having it rebuilt by this German Alfa specialist is far too expensive for me. Therefore I am looking now for a used engine, either as a separate purchase or as part of a damaged or scrapped Q4. That search will take some time I ...

Re: Noisy top end
Hi Marino A heater stripdown is not an easy task. In the US Alfa 164 Forum, there are quite a number of work explanations about this subject. The link is: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/164-168-1991-1995 I respond to your question because I have done it myself, that is, replacing the fan motor on a...

Re: The work never ends
@alfa east
No, I checked the markings and all was still in order.
It was a brocken valve for sure
@munition
Taking ther engine out - fairly easy
Install refurbished engine - not so easy, where to get one from?
(who is "ps Schulze"?)
4k euro less - impossible

Re: The work never ends
Sad to hear that Helli, but I have to correct you: The engine of my Q4 died. :( She's not dead, she's just temporarily resting. Soon enough you'll be going through the gears again and we will all see you on the meeting. All the best! .Well, I fear, that this poor engine won't run any more...

Correct Helli, The heads can be taken off in the car. I will post some pictures of it. This is a 3,5 Q4 so with slightly bigger lining than you have. Thanks Arjen! Is it really necessary to take the firewall of (as can be seen in your picture)? I didn't know that there are 3,5 l engines for the Q4....

Re: The work never ends
Belay my question below. The documentation has it all. There is a section in group 01 "Gesamter Motor" (Complete Car) called "Vorgänge im Fahrzeug" (the English translation is better: "On-Vehicle Operations", which gives all the details for cylinder head removal without lifting the engine. And of co...

The work never ends
It happened about 200 km after passing the 200 000 km mark. The engine of my Q4 died. :( I was running with about 5000 revs for some time over an empty German highway, when suddenly the revs dropped to a much lower, but constant value. Immediately afterwards the car dragged a large white (vapor) clo...

Q4 Broken Rear Coil Spring
Hi everybody Today by pure chance I detected that the rightside rear coil spring is broken. I searched the forum but the relevant threads are a couple of years old and not very productive on this subject, except that the Q4 springs are unique (nothing new :( ). Is there information around on the ava...

Due to the leak repair (loss of a lot of fluid it is a good occasion to do that.

Re: How to empty the power steering/Viscomatic hydraulic sys
One additional question:
the Viscomatic has a filter in the accumulator block.
The part number from EPER is 5894238.
I could not find a supplyer for this.
Are there alternative types available?
I read in another thread (some years ago) that Alfisti has a supply of them. Is that still true?

I have been neglecting my Q4 during the last six month, just drove it happily and did not repair things that were running :D I neglected also the forum, having other priorities on my hands.
