24V cambelt tensioner pulley bearing question
Hi all, What have you all used as the cambelt tensioner pulley bearing when replacing the belt and associated parts? The supply of 60580235 oem pulleys has more or less dried out and the Dayco ATB2574, which I assume is of OEM quality, is very expensive. I have understood that the cheaper alternativ...

Re: 1996 Alfa 164 Cloverleaf (I'm back...)
This is what I found on Compact 98. It looks like the QV 24V was built only for the UK and perhaps other RHD markets alongside the LHD Q4. Most likely their calculations indicated that a RHD version of the Q4 would not have been feasible financially. AFAIK the same thing is happening with the Giulia...

24V belt change without tools
I was going to change the timing belt on my QV 24V a couple of years ago but somehow the project got postponed. The plan was to buy the tools from Totallyalfa but they are not selling them anymore. The dies are available elsewhere but not the weighted arm tool with adapters for the timing and auxili...

Re: Alfa Romeo 164 Q4 in Sweden
It is true that in German it says "also". From the Swedish text I got the idea that it has Swiss papers and has not completed the Swedish registering process. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong as Swedish is not my first or second strongest language.

Re: Alfa Romeo 164 Q4 in Sweden
Interesting and not too far from where I live. However, some rusty parts, eg. in engine bay and brake calipers indicate that the car may have been sitting for some time. Exactly the same parts as on my qv after sitting in a cold shed for seven years. So some expensive maintenance is probably due. Ho...

Re: Engine out or leave it in for cambelt and clutch job?
Thanks for the advice. Assuming I have an engine lift, (which I don't but they are inexpensive compared to 164 parts) would you still recommend taking the engine out from below instead of lifting it out?

Engine out or leave it in for cambelt and clutch job?
Hi all, I am sick and tired of driving my RAV4 so I want to get the 164 on the street for next summer. I took my chances and started the QV 24V after it had been sitting in a barn for about six years. I siphoned as much of the old fuel out as I could and put a jerrycanful of fresh stuff in. It start...

Re: 24V QV cambelt parts and tools
Has anyone ordered from these guys? At least they have 100% positive feedback. Are the timing belts offered for the 24V always of the newer type with the round teeth or are there still the old ones being sold? http://www.ebay.de/itm/Zahnriemensatz-Alfa-164-3-0-V6-24V-/390652223524?pt=DE_Autoteile&ha...

Re: Boge adjustable dampers - rebuild document
This is great news. The left rear one is leaking on my QV. The plan was to substitute the original dampers with koni sports and store the boges until rebuild info was available. Well now it seems to be there. If there is someone undertaking the process already, I think I'll wait for the tips and tri...

Re: 24V QV cambelt parts and tools
Thanks for the advice Daniel. I will order the stuff and let's see how it goes. The car is now in a shed a few hundred metres from my workshop where I will be doing the maintenance. I am just thinking whether it is safe to start the car after it has been standing for a couple of years. I know the V6...

Re: Hi from Finland
Thanks for the welcomes! The reason I went for a QV 24V was that it was the top model in its time and in many ways more "developed" than the first series QV. However I was open to both QVs. First I was planning to get a Q4 but due to my lack of technical automotive skills I thought the QV would be e...

Re: 24V QV cambelt parts and tools
Thanks for the link. Actually I sent them an enquiry via their contact form about a year ago and never received an answer. It made me wonder if they are still in business?
Edit: Looks like they are since the blog seems to be active. Maybe the contact form was not the right way to contact them.

Re: Hi from Finland
Thanks Alfan. I thought sharing my Alfa history might boost my credibility on this forum
Although I must say I am quite an amateur in technical issues - but willing to learn.

24V QV cambelt parts and tools
Hi, I am planning to change the cambelt and pulleys on my QV 24V sometime in the not too distant future. Where can I source the parts and tools needed? I did the belt on my previous 164, a 12valve and no special tools were needed. I think this 24V one is a different ball game and I will not succeed ...

Hi from Finland
Hello, Greetings from Finland. I just joined the register since I have a 1993 QV 24V. They never imported this specific model to Finland so I decided to to look across Europe for one. I found this one in Switzerland and after a bit of haggling over email, I bought a one way ticket to Zurich and then...
