Re: FIXED THE ERROR MOVEMENT PISTON PROBLEM VISCOMATIC!

Oh one more thing, I did it while having the FL tester with MA12A plugged in and watching piston position % parameter. But now I don't remember if it was helpful to watch the tester or not

Re: FIXED THE ERROR MOVEMENT PISTON PROBLEM VISCOMATIC!

I was pretty sure I already responded to this thread before - it did work for me! Your connection diagram seems right, there are only 2 wires on the valve so hard to mess up. I did a few cycles and heard a knock and it started working fine again! One note is to use correct power supply. At...

Re: Searching for Alfa 164 3.0 24V engine control unit 0261200663

Unfortunately not available under the link posted above (it says "ask for availability" and I can tell you that it means it's sadly N/A).

I'm pretty sure you can only get used ones, unless some forgotten stock pops up on eBay etc.

Re: Maintenance on site; some features temporarely not available

Great work on keeping the site up and running, but one thing I've noticed: it seems that some service manuals are now missing? Looking at Q4, for example Q4_wiring directory is completely empty, and I think there have been more folders available for the Q4 previously, including some service manuals,...

Re: putting 166 brakes in a 164?

Yes correct, my bad as I wrote of the top of my head.

My point still stands though, not directly useable.

I'm planning on doing mine with 330x32 mm and 166 4 piston calipers as described above but probably earliest next year, so can't help much more other than dropping an idea until then :D

Re: Q4 - rear brakedisks

Yes! :D Just successfully mounted the front 2.0 TS discs after re-drilling and can confirm full success. Dimensions are exactly the same, just the bolt pattern had to be tweaked but that is not an issue. I've used locally manufactured discs as an experiment before ruining a pair of eexpnsive discs, ...

Re: putting 166 brakes in a 164?

I know of a few guys who tried it, and I will be looking to do just that as soon as my front rotors wear out :D From what I heard, you want 166 4 pot calipers and 330 mm brembo discs from GTA. The discs are 32 mm thick compared to 166's 28 mm so calipers need to be widened but still far easier and c...

Re: Alfa 164 QV 3.0 24V ignition problems

Interesting topic, electrical gremlins will be more and more common in our cars after all those years. Not sure if you have the ignition modules integrated in the ECU or as separate units by the radiator, in such case worth checking. From what I can tell, in my Q4 wiring was toast to the injectors a...

Re: Q4 - rear brakedisks

Thanks, I also found the ones from Alfisti in the meantime so I'm a bit torn between getting those, or re-drilling the TS-ones. TS-ones I can get for ca. 50 EUR a set, drilled or slotted rotors as well if one wishes such a thing. Then re-drilling the bolt pattern at a local machine shop. I've got th...

Re: Q4 - rear brakedisks

Resurrecting this old thread as I'm in need of rear brake discs at the moment. Did anyone find a good solution to this problem? Looking for a place in Europe before I hit Alfissimo from overseas, also if possible for a cheaper option (considering adapting TS front rotors as well). Arjen, where did y...

Re: Filters for Viscomatic.

The first one which goes into the reservoir I got about 2 years ago brand new from an Alfa dealer, go and ask, they may still have them (comes together with a new spring too). The second one in the Viscomatic group is N/A anywhere, I've tried contacting the supplier even (Microfluid), but they don't...

I've been through the head gasket situation myself some time ago as you recall... I can only cheer you up by saying that access to a lot of other components will be much easier with the heads off, so good time to have a closer look at the steering rack, starter motor, gearbox linkage bushings (highl...

Great news :!: :)

Keep us posted about the progress on other items too, I'm interested to see if the springs you found will lower the car slightly. I actually think 1-2cm lower would suit it very well and would look into that myself.

Wow, that's wonderful news! :D Looks like the ABS unit itself proves to be quite reliable, and Alfa engineers should have included this simple step in the debugging instructions too! What did you use to clean the engine block and other aluminum parts? Was it media blasted? It looks brand new, must be very satisfying. :)

Re: Hatch for radio slot

Update on this from my side. I am able to recondition the mechanism which slows down the flap. I renew the rotary damper with new fluid and better seals, so that it's not leaking anymore (thicker o-ring and casing is then glued together after putting new oil inside). The action of the damper is bett...

It's tears of joy let me tell you. :D I've just been testing the system with my Marelli tester, ran the pump motor test and the solenoid valve actuation test a couple of times to flush the old fluid out, and the system is blocking and releasing the wheels and pulsing as it should. What a shame that Totallyalfa does not offer the tools any more. I've been sort of waiting for a good moment to get a full set for a couple of years now, but did not expect this to be discontinued. Re: 164 Q4 ABS problem (warning light on)

Results: - I am measuring ground when the screw leading power to the pump motor is screwed down (this I suppose is short to ground, it's not supposed to be shorted, but I may be wrong) - Because of this the measurements are split into 2: with the screw in place (would be normal operation, but I fear...
