Re: 24V serpentine belt idler pulley bearing
I've ended up using the complete 2.0 TS / 156 pulleys (e.g. SKF VKM 32007). They are not metal, but some sort of hard plastic but look and work very well (a few years now). The only thing is the inner diameter of the center hole in the bearing (where the screw goes) is slightly larger, so I had to u...

Re: 164 Q4 steering rods (WARNING!)
Great :) If you have the dimensions of the original FWD and modified FWD, that would be good to put here! Good point, sorry my Alfa tech did it for me or I would have gladly documented it. Basically he just got the outer side down to make the entire tie-rod the same length as the original Q4 tie-ro...

Re: 164 Q4 steering rods (WARNING!)
That might have been the case as well, memory is a bit hazy on this one
EDIT: I've just checked and actually the one needed for Q4 is shorter. See also the first post in this thread. So I'm pretty sure it was the matter of cutting the 'standard' 164 rods to length and then threading.

Re: 164 Q4 steering rods (WARNING!)
If I remember correctly I ended up cutting the 'regular' 164 tie rods to length of the Q4 ones and then threading them a bit deeper to match the thread length on the Q4 inner rod. This has worked well for me since, so may be worth a shot for you as well. I think I wrote about this somewhere already ...

Re: Trouble diagnostics for 4WD light
Hi Victor, as far as I'm aware - only F/L Tester can do the trick, no chance to diagnose the 4WD system using any modern equipment I'm afraid. :( Best bet to find someone with the correct Marelli tester and modules, and do the diagnosis this way. I was also unable to diagnose mine a few years ago so...

Re: ABS problems Q4
As I remember it differs between versions, main fuse on mine was under the hood on the firewall, near the coolant reservoir, just stuck on there. I think there should be some photos in the other thread but in case you don't find it let me know and maybe I'll dig out some more photos. I know it can b...

From my experience ABS faults an be electric related. Have a look at my thread, I also had the light on albeit without any clear cause, after many years of struggle I fixed it by cleaning the connections between the main ABS fuse and its holder: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1427

Welcome back Haydn! Good to have you back in the club. 8) I did follow your thread on your former Q4, indeed that's what happens with those Alfas, you sell them same way as you buy them - on an impulse. Glad to hear you're recovering and congrats on the purchase, she's a stunner! Re: Hydraulic pressure, value too low
Excellent news! And congrats on getting this fixed so quickly, it can be a real chore to deal with those problems but you really got it sorted very nicely.
You've now inspired me to look into my 'pressure variations too high' issue as well.
Enjoy the test drive!

Re: Hydraulic pressure, value too low
Good that you remembered Alfan, I've added a post in that thread just now to conclude the discussion, as I ended up getting 60605589 directly from Alfa Romeo which has solved my problem. Reproducing was not successful in my case. I suspect flow restrictors have not been swapped out correctly which h...

Re: 60605589 Viscomatic supply hose
Just as a closeout of the topic for future readers, I ended up buying 60605589 directly from Alfa Romeo, weirdly it was still available as of year 2018. Price better not to discuss and best to forget. Good news was that at the end the new hose solved the vibration problem. I do not recommend to have...

Re: Hydraulic pressure, value too low
I'll be watching your thread and give it some thinking... I don't have a "pressure too low" error, but mine keeps getting "pressure fluctuation too high" error after some minutes of driving (30-60 mins slow driving or 5-10 mins above 90 km/h). I really wish we had more knowledge on this system as it...

Hi there 8) Both me and Alfan from this forum had positive experience refurbishing our Q4 steering racks with this company: http://www.nagengast.pl/regeneration-en.html It's a company from Poland, proven worldwide service. And by the way, they can redo Boge shocks also. They do speak English but if ...

I was pretty sure I already responded to this thread before - it did work for me! Your connection diagram seems right, there are only 2 wires on the valve so hard to mess up. I did a few cycles and heard a knock and it started working fine again! One note is to use correct power supply. At...

Unfortunately not available under the link posted above (it says "ask for availability" and I can tell you that it means it's sadly N/A).
I'm pretty sure you can only get used ones, unless some forgotten stock pops up on eBay etc.

Re: Maintenance on site; some features temporarely not available
Great work on keeping the site up and running, but one thing I've noticed: it seems that some service manuals are now missing? Looking at Q4, for example Q4_wiring directory is completely empty, and I think there have been more folders available for the Q4 previously, including some service manuals,...

Re: putting 166 brakes in a 164?
Yes correct, my bad as I wrote of the top of my head.
My point still stands though, not directly useable.
I'm planning on doing mine with 330x32 mm and 166 4 piston calipers as described above but probably earliest next year, so can't help much more other than dropping an idea until then

Yes! :D Just successfully mounted the front 2.0 TS discs after re-drilling and can confirm full success. Dimensions are exactly the same, just the bolt pattern had to be tweaked but that is not an issue. I've used locally manufactured discs as an experiment before ruining a pair of eexpnsive discs, ...

Re: putting 166 brakes in a 164?
I know of a few guys who tried it, and I will be looking to do just that as soon as my front rotors wear out :D From what I heard, you want 166 4 pot calipers and 330 mm brembo discs from GTA. The discs are 32 mm thick compared to 166's 28 mm so calipers need to be widened but still far easier and c...

Re: Alfa 164 QV 3.0 24V ignition problems
Interesting topic, electrical gremlins will be more and more common in our cars after all those years. Not sure if you have the ignition modules integrated in the ECU or as separate units by the radiator, in such case worth checking. From what I can tell, in my Q4 wiring was toast to the injectors a...
