Re: Alfa code problems!
Hi Karl, You have 3 options; First is that you look around for a motronic for a 24V without the Alfacode. The second is that you ship your motronic to a company like Schepers-Autotechniek and let the alfacode be removed. The third one, you need the donorcar for, remove the red codekey from it and t...

Dear Alfisti, My 1995 164 24V Super was out of battery for like 6 months for a full paint job and cosmetics and after that, it shows the CODE light, cranks but doesn’t start. After another few months of trying, mechanic sent it to an electrics expert he knows. Latest update is that the yellow immobi...

How to store ZF 4HP18E transaxle long term
Dear Friends, I have bought a used ZF 4HP18E transmission from a 1995 Alfa 164 24V V6. Mine is still good but I bought this since its in low mileage and to use it if needed in future. It was drained due to shipping requirements and what I need to know is how to store it. What precautions should I ta...

Re: Alfa164Diagnostics
:?: Will the ECU talk to the software if there is a problem with the immobilizer unit?( Ignition key is in RUN position and Key CODE light illuminating) That is a good question. I don't have a standard immobilizer in mine, so never got into that situation. My guess is that it should still be possib...

164 Key Code Problem
Hello friends, I have a 1995 164 24V Super RHD and it was given a paint job. Now the engine cranks but does not start. Key Code light shows. I have read that when Key Code light is shining, there is no point of cranking. I have the key and the transponder chip. The battery was removed from car for f...

What is the purpose of this bonnet earth strap?
Hi,
I was told that this connects the bonnet to the body at the left side hinge. First, what exactly is the purpose of this braided earth strap? I could not find this on cardisc manual as well. I have the keycode light on. Could this be the reason?
Thank you

Re: Potential replacement for 24V cambelt tensioners
Well, I have purchased this Ferrari tensioner for my 24V Super (Ferrari pn# 157356) for less than GBP 150 last year, which is it's V8 engine's right hand side bank timing belt tensioner. This was discussed and confirmed at a different forum last year. Here is the confirmation: http://www.alfabb.com/...

Re: Unidiag and the 164; a way to communicate with your car
The 164 has many “ intelligent” computers to control various systems i.e. Motronic, ABS/Antilock, Airbag, SCS, Airco and Viscomatic. Those computers can be used to diagnose faults in those systems; sometimes by means of flashingcodes and sometimes the use of the Magneti Marelli Tester was needed. T...
