164 QV 3.0 24v For Sale

After testing the water, and checking the european market for good QV's, i am now definitely selling my UK MY 94 M reg QV. She is in great condition, black, 135k, and just had a replacement low mileage gearbox (manual original 5 speed QV box) complete new clutch, slave cylinder, and fresh oil and fi...

Re: An old issue rear it's ugly head!

Yep, i was amazed it started at all too, but it was getting tougher the more i was trying stuff so i'm sure it would have got to that point shortly. agreed, finding the water source could be tricky, but possibly, or even largely contributed to internal condensation from being stood around for quite ...

An old issue rear it's ugly head!

As you may have seen on my other threads, a horrendous misfire, more like a hard ignition cut, became apparent at around 2500 rpm, but with a fluctuting rough idle, i suspected the Air Flow Meter was finally failing altogether. However, after eliminating everything under the bonnet i thought i'd at ...

Re: QV Air Flow Meter

Hmm, yes its positively Everywhere! lol! well, i found one in ebay uk, bought it, tested it, useless, utter waste of money, typical ebay tat of late to be honest, so i broadened the search. i got another, but, as it turns out, the fault isn't Air Flow Meter at all! thats for anther thread i ...

Re: QV Air Flow Meter

Hi Porto thanks for the reply. yeah they are pretty rare things, and i think the Q4 is even different to the QV, or at least it was on the uk Q4 i've had at mine previously. according to my research, the bosch part number only cross references against a very small number of Fiats, Lancia's, and the ...

QV Air Flow Meter

Hi all It would appear that the Air Flow Meter on my 164 qv has a dead spot that kicks in at 2500rpm, creating the mother of all stutters and misfires  Ive split the top case to inspect it and attempt a refurbishment but i think i'm pee'ing in the wind to be honest, so has anyone got one of t...

Re: HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!

hi alfan

yeah i found that topic whilst researching, and is certainly along the lines of what i'll be doing for the future, but thats alrady with the bonnet up isn't it,

such luxury! ha ha!

so it would appear to be definitely a "from underneath" job then, not a through the front.

Re: Wheels, how big can you go?

Ok, so i should finish this thread with a result i guess! I ended up at these bbs lm style staggered rims which i refurbished into the gold and polished finish. They are 8j front, 9j rears and 18", wearing 225 40's all round. The offset was quite high so i had some spacers made up and did a stud con...

HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!

Hi all

As the title suggests, my bonnet release cable has snapped, at the mechanism end rather than the lever pull cabin end sadly.

Has anyone had this happen, and know how i can release the bonnet alternatively?

Thanks in advance

Re: Alfa 164 QV 3.0 V6 24 valve for sale

Yes, that is very true. But, in terms of uk only marketplace, they weren't terribly well recieved, and although alfa sold all units, that didnt amount to a massive number anyway. The depreciation was probably the biggest obstacle for most folk to get over, which would never have been as bad if the d...

Re: Alfa 164 QV 3.0 V6 24 valve for sale

I think you guys got it right. I'm always saying the 164 probably looks better now than it used to when it was first launched. I mean, back then the design was quite outdated, compared to similar cars from the segment. But as time goes by it shows how nicely it matures, and now all of its competito...

Re: Alfa 164 QV 3.0 V6 24 valve for sale

I guess what I am trying to say here is; they are becoming more collectable. Just not for a large group of them (yet). I think that sums it up nicely! thank you. :D The way i see them, as an avid alfisti, is that they are a rare classic in the making. There was never a big fan base, it was thought ...

5x98 wheel choice is generally abismall, 4x98 is equally poor.

100pcd works well with careful choice and use,

and then there are these

Re: Refurbishing the QV Rims

heres what i did with some QV 16's. these were in a pretty terrible condition, so drilled out all the original plastic studs, complete shotblast which sadly revealed some quite advanced corrosion. Base coat them in matt black powder coat, cure, then sanded flat. Coloured them in Graphite Grey, cook,...

Hubs and Bearings Query

Hi folks as usual i'm messing around probably where i shouldn't! because i have a wheel fettish, i have some 4 x 98 pcd wheels i'd like to fit on my 3.0 qv, which of course is 5 x 98 pcd. so, options, remove and redrill the hubs with an addtional 4 stud pattern, which i've drawn out, quite do'able w...
