Re: Alfa (and other FCA) parts with club discount

Hi

I'm interested in looking into that spreadsheet with parts, I'm in need for transmission and suspension parts.

Best regards

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

I planned to get some work done when I had a short holiday now between Christmas and New Year but instead I had a seriuos case of man flu to deal with, and now I'm back at work again. But I managed to get the rear wheel spindles finished at least, rust removed by electrolysis bath, painted with 2 co...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Hi Wilco

I'm aware of that but I'm using a modified Saab subframe instead, you can see my mods in my post from October 16.

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

With the gearbox in place I can now measure exactly where the cardan shaft and Viscomatic will be located.

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

I have now started making that adapter from drawing, Yesterday evening I spent at work making a first test piece from what I had left of the polycarbonate sheet. IMG_2191.JPG IMG_2192.JPG IMG_2193.JPG Test fitted it today, all holes are in the right place but the cutout for the driveshaft was a very...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Today I have tried with the complete engine/gearbox package in the car. I had already modified the subframe with a cutout for the rear axle output, this will be boxed later. Some grinding of the subframe was required but now it fits, but it's tight. The whole package is higher at the gearbox side so...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

So maybe you also want to have an original Q4? Actually, here in Sweden there's a site called blocket.se. I have in my profile on that site a notification if any 164Q4's are up for sale  Useful tidbit of information when brushing up on my holiday-Swedish! You're Welcome

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Measured up the engine side yesterday, not as many holes but the block was to long for the mill I used, luckily this type of mill has a tillable spindle head, so I measured it in ZX-plane instead. I also measured the distance between crank and driveshaft support bearing, luckily it was exactly the s...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Yesterday I did some field studies on Italian hardware 8) IMG_1979.JPG My polycarbonate mockup is almost ready but before I start cutting, milling and drilling the real thing I want some more measurements. So I took the one half of my other Q4 gearbox and placed it on the table of a milling machine ...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Been working on my adapter plate for a few days now. Right now I'm using a piece of polycarbonate as a template because it's transparent and easy to cut, another good reason was that I got it for free from our local glazier, its a part of a window from a tractor :D I started by cnc-milling a center ...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

I've got most parts at least, still missing the intermediate shaft between gearbox and right side drive shaft, that's the most critical part I'm missing right now, got a price for one in February but the guy selling it never seems to find time to remove it from the car. I'm not sure what you mean by...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Update! Been busy now a few days doing measurements of how to mate the gearbox with the engine, found a scrap engine on the interweb to use as a mockup. Got myself another gearbox to use when measuring too. So I placed a later model Saab 9000 subframe on some bricks to get some clearance from the ga...

164Q4 drive shaft seals

Hi all I'm currently trying to find parts to rebuild a 6-speed Getrag. One part I had trouble finding was the seals around the front drive shaft outputs, part no 5894345, the seals are 35x55x9 and by searching for these dimensions I found out that Opel uses a seal in the same dimension, i ordered on...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Small update When i restored the rear wheel spindles I was unaware of the fact that the ABS sensors was not produced anymore and just drilled/hammered them out. So now I bought another set of spindles with ABS sensors. Managed to remove them and they still seem to work, both have same resistance and...

If it's cracked, isn't it covered by your insurance? or maybe new windscreens aren't produced anymore?

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Been busy disassembling and not the least cleaning the gearbox. I'm doing it carefully and take photos of everything since there's no manuals or documentation available as far as I know. I have started to make a list of bearings and seals as I remove them, thought I could just as well share it with ...

I found this picture http://www.berlinasportivo.com/Technical/164manuals/164manual.files/tmp46B-9.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that confirmed my suspicion there was a bolt holding the reverse gear shaft to the bearing. I removed the end seal and then removing the shaft was no p...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Hi Alfan That would be great, Only thing I can't figure out how to take apart is this haft for the reverse gear. If it had been a Saab gearbox I would have used brute force because I know I can get new parts, but here I think its better to be careful. Just to clarify, the reverse gear shaft is stuck...

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

I have been having fun disassembling the 6-speed Getrag, but I'm stuck, can't get the reverse gear shaft out. I guess there is something, a bolt? a locking ring? behind what I think is an end seal. I have attached a photo, this is from the bell housing side. Any ideas?

Re: Saab 9000 TQ4

Hi all! Just writing to let you know this project is still going on. Not much have happened though, some parts I need are very hard to find and I lost interest for a while. But now I have started again, rectangular tubes 70x40x3 will probably arrive next week so I can start rebuilding the rear to mo...
