Re: Viscomatic FLT read out to diagnose 4x4 error light
So it seems to be an electrical problem. I don't know if they are easy to find, but you should look up the part number for it. The same part was used for some Lancias. You chould try and measure, if you have continuity through the wires, maybe it can be fixed. Do you know what each wire should meas...

Re: Steering angle sensor
Maybe I did not provide a link for that, here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/j61iv5uhz07194d/AABxtBb8CmKhJfOrnAM9si2Za?dl=0 But before replacing anything, make sure that the electrical connection is ok. Unfortunately the only thing able to view in that dropbox folder is 2 drawings of the plastic...

Q4 4x4 Steering Angle Sensor
Hello,
I need to replace the steering angle sensor on my Q4's steering rack, as it is throwing a fault code for the 4x4 system.

Re: Viscomatic FLT read out to diagnose 4x4 error light
Hooked up the FLT again after locating the steering angle sensor. The plastic piece is a little brittle but in one solid piece, so I didn’t want to remove it. I did turn it however, but the values on the FLT remain the same. After removing the entire sensor for further inspection, one of the wires (...

Re: 164 Q4 steering rods (WARNING!)
Ah, that was obvious to me, as I had been struggling with it some time ago ;) Top one is the used one from my Q4, so the correct size. Middle is the one I ended up using (Meyle). Bottom is new for 164 FWD. Do you have the part # for the Meyle tie-rod you ended up using? Did it fit correctly on both...

Viscomatic FLT read out to diagnose 4x4 error light
So I finally hooked up the FLT to my Viscomatic ECU to diagnose my 4x4 error light.
FLT:
“Signal of steering angle:
Caused by :
Signal too weak”
On FLT, steering angle sensor reads constant “-128” with steering wheel straight or turned in any direction.

Re: FIXED THE ERROR MOVEMENT PISTON PROBLEM VISCOMATIC!
Why am I not able to view the photos in this thread? I currently have the 4WD error light illuminated my instrument cluster, so I am awaiting an MA12A module and FLT to diagnose the issue. I'm hoping it's an easy fix, something like this. But I can't see any of the photos, or understand exactly what...

Re: Q4 Viscomatic hoses (hydraulic lines)
Opening up this thread again. Had to make new hoses for Viscomatic on one of my Q4;s recently. I actually made them of AN lines and fittings. Used AN4 teflon hoses for everything. The Teflon AN hoses has a pressure rating of 275 bar, so they`re more than well suited for the job. Finding the correct...

Re: 164 Q4 steering rods (WARNING!)
Great :) If you have the dimensions of the original FWD and modified FWD, that would be good to put here! Good point, sorry my Alfa tech did it for me or I would have gladly documented it. Basically he just got the outer side down to make the entire tie-rod the same length as the original Q4 tie-ro...

Re: Q4 awd warning light on instrument cluster. HELP
The tester socket for the AWD is also right next to the ECU. Passenger side in the centre console, remove cover and you should see the ECU with VISCOMATIC written on it. From there, you can follow a short cable which is a 3- pin connector, which the tester connects to. Ask if you want pictures of a...

Re: Q4 awd warning light on instrument cluster. HELP
Can be worth it to check in Alfabb.com / alfaowner.com, if anyone has a tester to loan/rent to you. The tester makes life just much more easy. What you need is the Magneti Marelli tester, MA12-A module and ADT101A multiplexer cable. After that you're set. My Alfa tech has the original North America...

Re: Q4 awd warning light on instrument cluster. HELP
Here you have all the electrical connections in the Viscomatic ECU, which is located in the center console, on the passenger side. If you have any questions about measuring these, I can help you. The AWD system on these cars are a little bit problematic when something goes wrong, but it is surprisi...

Re: Q4 awd warning light on instrument cluster. HELP
If you would put the car on a lift with NON-functioning AWD the rear wheels will still turn if drive is on. The question is that does the Viscous coupling engage or not. If you don't feel comfortable with electronic diagnostic tools, now is a great time to learn! When you turn the key in the...
