Re: Hose size on viscomatic system

I don't expect that Alfa made his own standard for tubing and that they used common material.

Maybe you can start your search with tthe banjocouplings...

Congrats!!!

It could be that this car once was owned by a british carjouralist who lived in France at the time. I remember him talking about having the car bought in Holland.

Re: Does anyone have information about my (Savali?) Q4...

Welcome aboard Haydn! Interesting car you got there; I know one 3.5Q4 closeby; proteo rosso as well. Once they did an engineoverhaul on the 3.5 and I was able to make some pictures. The 3.5 marking there was engraved on the same flat as the enginenumber; perhaps you can take a closer look there. As ...

Hi Marcus, According to the official servicemanual of the 164 FL/ Super, on all but the Q4 Dextron II is used. Still widely available in Holland. Re: 164 V6 TB Super ECU part no.

I have send info over the V6 Turbo to AlfaGixxer via email.

So far I have never heard before of a failed ECU and as said, the V6 Turbo has 2 ECU's.

Re: Engine temperature sensor voltage to low on the ECU

The ECU gives 5V to the sensor so it is the other way around. As the resistance rises as the engine heats up, the current is limited and this limited current is a function to the engine temperature. On ML4.1 the sensor is a 2 wire sensor; on ML1.7 it is a 3 wire sensor with a 5 V inputsignal, a grou...

Re: Blinking climate console and voltage drops

The fuse and relay under the steeringcolumn are only for the "pilot" current; the big 30A fuse and the thick red wires are for the main current. If the fuse is rated 30A, would the nominal current be 25A? The alternator is rated 80A at max rpm; would it be 40A at idle? On idle, with rearheatwindow, ...

If you have the fdti cable and the 3 pin connector, you can also try multiecuscan which can read 4.1 as well(according to their list).

Re: 164 V6 TB Super ECU part no.

One of the TB's made it all the way to Australia!

The TB has 2 ECU's; one for motronic and one for spark advancing.

Since it is a '96 model; is your motronic or codelight on?

Any welding done on the car with the battery connected?

Re: Blinking climate console and voltage drops

Sometimes it is the relay that overheats ans sometimes it is the fuse base that is overheating. For sure the rearwindowheating can draw to much current. The relay is in the same location as the fuse is; behind the battery. http://www.alfaromeo164register.com//manuals/firstseries/schematicsfirst/diag...

Re: Blinking climate console and voltage drops

The burned fuse is most likely the one from the rear window heating. Big one, 40A 2 6mm2 red wires connected and the fuseholder halfway melted? Question; is v1 on the alternator properly connected? That one is requered to make the magnetic field. Alternator in lh lower corner of drawing... http://ww...

Re: Blinking climate console and voltage drops

Relais and the ecu's from the instrumentpanel and ecc need a minimum of 9V to operate. With a running engine and a full battery it would be odd that the voltage would drop under 12V of the battery.
An idle running alternator would be able to deliver around 13.5V to the system.

Re: Blinking climate console and voltage drops

Can you actually measure the voltage on G56? (terminal on false firewall)

What if engine not running

What if engine running idle (min and max)

What if engine is running 2000 rpm?

Re: Disastre Again.

That's real bad luck!

Did you need a red codekey for both Q4's? Otherwise you can make one codeless and all you need then is a set of keys and locks to meake it at least running for a sale.

Re: instrument panel

That will be quite a challenge to make that one working! First series instrumentpanel works with an external interface called "Alfa Romeo Control" (black box in feetrest). FL/ Super instrumentpanel has this all intergrated in the panel itself. Physically I 'm not sure if the panel itself will fit. Y...
