LMM hose.

Post by fasani » Mon Feb 09, 2015 12:09 am

All,

As i noticed that more 164 drivers need a new LMM hose i pickef up my reasearch/project to have these re-produced.
A few years we made a start but the company got bankrupt, we lost a 12v and 24v Q rubbers.

If there is enough interest we could have some new hoses.

If you are please let me know the following:

model
01. 12v QV
02. 24v QV
03. Q4
04. airintake 38 mm (12v QV, set of 6 rubber)
05. airintake 45 mm (24v QV and Q4, set of 6 rubbers)

If i know the numbers of participants i can come up with a price..

Interest"? please send me a PM with the following:

model number
amount

Kind regards,

hendrik

I think it's reasonable if you can make more of these as the demand will surely continue and people will be asking for those as they need it. I for instance have installed a good one ca. 2 months ago, but I assume in 2-3 years I will need another one too.

Also, would it be possible to ask the same company to reproduce some other rubbers that are n/a? Headlight surrounds and covers (there is the surround and the one on top in the projector headlights as far as I'm aware) are at the top of my list. Could you send an inquiry to the company about those as well?

EDIT: In the above I mean the following parts for the FL: 9945869 (L) and 9945871 (R) black top covering and 9945868 (L) and 9945870 (R) silicone (transparent) side seal. This would be a treat to many Alfisti as those parts wear out regularily are N/A and come with brand new headlights only (if at all).

I can only agree that many other parts are interesting, maybe a list should be compiled?

I think the intake hoses are a good start to see what is possible, then maybe other parts could be added. I am definitely in for Q4 intake hoses - I replaced mine right after I bought the car in 2003, that is now more than 250.000km ago, so an extra would be nice :)

I'd certainly be interested in an intake hose for a Q4 - I took the current one off my Q4 last week and it has several splits in it :(
The rubber covers on top of the headlamps are a good shout too - some of those would be useful.

Hello everbody!

I´m new in this forum. The discussion on intake hose is interesting. Is it the same for 164 QV 24v from 1994? Because this is what I am looking for. As some of you mentioned there are other thing that could be interesting. :D

It seems that the air intake runners are available here, though it says 44mm

I don't know why you mention runners here, I got them no problem at my local Alfa Romeo dealer, for the Q4 that is.

Reading things in different places, I got this mixed up, thinking it contained other stuff than LMM hoses

I pull this thread up and want to move it in an other direction.
Yes, my 24V also suffers from a damaged LMM hose, but I could fix it with some black silicone and it is tight for years now. I guess, that most of the cracked hoses can be repaired with this method.

When something is really needed and is worth to produce a series of several hundred pieces, it is the gasket for the fuel pump.

Alfa part 60572049

I tried to source it all over the world - without success. This gasket will become an issue for all 164 sooner or later as the rubber gets damaged by the ethanol in the fuel. Also the fuel hoses inside the tank get damaged by the alcohol and may need to be reproduced, but they can be sourced at least at the moment.

Since whole Italy is a big family, the same gasket is used in the Ferrari 456 GT / 456 GTA (Ferrari part 153188). This car has two tanks with two pumps and therefore two gaskets. I'm not 100% sure, but this gasket could also be used in Ferraris 348, 355, F40 and 512. I scrolled thru Ferrari forums and discovered the same problem: they have no source anymore!

I have no glue how much Alfa 164 are still on the road - 2,000? My estimate is that 500 of these cars will run into problems with this gasket. Ferrari produced a number of 1,900 of the 456 GT/ GTA and I guess that circa 1,000 are still running.

My optimistic assumption is that 2,500 of these gaskets will be needed within the next years. I read in a forum, Ferrari had produced a charge of 800 pieces in 2013, but they are sold out in the meantime... I can confirm, because I checked the availability at two Ferrari dealers.

I have neither the possibility nor the connections / network to reproduce the gasket. If there is somebody (fasani?) who can do the job, I and a lot of Alfa and Ferrari drivers would appreciate that.
