-the only not european country the Q4 was sold was Japan
-switzerland and germany were the biggest markets for the Q4 (totally more than 60% of the sales)
-greece has just one, hopefully it still drives

Two of them made it to the Alfamuseum in Arese.

A few of them must have been testmodels that are never sold, the rest I cannot think of yet.

Quite a few went to germany and swiss !!

You see that they talk about two types.

First type: no EGR valve, no red code key, 3 crashsensor airbagsystem

Second type :EGR valve, red code key, 1 crashsensor airbagsystem

arjen,

interesting info about the two versions. My Q4 is produced 24th march 1994 (one of the first versions) but has a red code key (I use it as second key) but I don't know if it has an EGR or not.

The blanc spots which are not filled in, are they unknown?

France had 9 more:

164 M.Y. 96 3.0 V6 24V 4 WD FRANCIA; 9

I read a post at the AlfaBB that there where a few Q4 imported to the states, not much I think two or so....

The Q4 was not sold in the UK (no RHD available), nor in the US.

The few cars which made it there were imported.

I actually think that the blanc spots belong to Switzerland.

the Q4 is never delivered in right hand drive.

normally special cars are also delivered in Luxemburg. the Q4 isn't............

Japan is LHD, but quite a few took the inconvenience and ordered a Q4.If you look at the Japanese sites, all Q4's are kept in excellent condition.

Concerning the red code key; it isn't really the red key that does the trick, but the chip inside the red body of the key. Around the ignition key holder a receiver is installed that recognizes the key and gives a command to the motronic that the engine is allowed to run.
The complete ‘red code key’ comes with the receiver, a ECU and an ‘injection’ symbol and a ‘code’ symbol on the instrument panel.

I got this from Marco Fazio:
According to our documentation files, the chassis number ZAR 164000063..... originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 4x4 24v (type 164451), manufactured on the 3rd May 1994 and sold on the 31st March 1995 on the German market.
The body color is pastel black.

Sorry for the off topic, but since his name always comes up with inquiries for historic alfa's I pictured Marco Fazio as a 70 year old librarian with reading glasses. Googling him came up with a different portrait.

Marco Fazio

This is part of a very nice photo series of the Goodwood festival btw, made by the Alfa Museo delegation.

I know of 3-4 in the US and maybe 1-2 in Mexico.
I know at least 5-10 in Japan. maybe more.
I can get a count from the Japanese club there if you want me to?

I own one of the 2 cars sold in Denmark (Danimarca). It was the Danish Fiat importers official press car - and thinking of the abuse it must have taken, I am impressed that it has done so many km without any major technical issues! :D

The reason for only 2 Q4's being sold here was a list price of 100.000 euros in 1994!!! That was 20.000 euros more than the QV24V....

I think the other car was owned by the boss of Bang&Olufsen from new.

I knew that; because of these luxury taxes the 'base' prices (without the taxes) of cars in Denmark are among the lowest in the world. It made it a favorite source for parallel importers; so buying them there and exporting them was a popular thing for e.g. German, and even UK buyers who could get right-hand drive from Danish dealers. I think this company in Holland may source some from Denmark: SHIPSIDE TAX FREE CARS B.V.

There is at least ONE 164 Q4 in Paraguay. It is a red one (Rosso Proteo) with tan Recaro seats and its owner has also a White Spider from the 60s... I might have pics, but not in this computer.

I just found one for sale! Also in Paraguay!

http://clasipar.paraguay.com/oferta_alf ... 25774.html

I just saw that the Spider wheels do not fit the Q4 well, it is beautiful in the Supers specially. The car doesn't seem to be in too good condition (looking by its seats), but as there is no 164 Q4 in Brazil, it is certainly a good acquisition... even having to go to Paraguay every 6 months to renew the license to drive it here, it is a good addition to any collection.

Although seeming to be expensive (equivalent to US$3500), for brazilian standards it is really cheap (the average price of the 164 is around US$ 9000, for a good one, 12000, 13000, having reached even 25000). The only problem is that we cannot import it to Brazil until it is 30 years old... but there are some ways to run it here without problems... 8)

Let's see if any member of the Alfa Romeo BR club interests on it... If I had money, it would be coming to my garage right now...

That would be for a 2 liter TS in decent condition. The 3 liters are more expensive (but still much cheaper than in Brazil) and the most expensive of course the QV and Q4. They are so rare that a standard price does not really exist.

Fasani, believe or not, with this money, here you can't buy almost even HALF alternator for the 24V! I found one here and they want R$ 3500,00 (US$ 2300) for it! My current 164 is stopped by now because of it (I'm trying to import one from Alfissimo, where it costs US$ 225, ONE TENTH of its price here)... It's absurd... people usually put the guilt on the government and its taxes, but the fact is that the government has its part, yes, but people tend to overprice things here too much!
