Fog light installation

Post by dev » Sun Jun 02, 2019 3:05 pm

Hi Guys!

I have a 1994 164 V6 TB which was not fitted with front fog lamps originally but I wanted to install them.

The fog lamps cable were factory installed, I inserted and connected the lamps, the fuse and the I17 "2037" relay behing the gauge cluster but it does not work. I measured it, and the I17 relay is not powered up when I press the fog lamp button on the climate panel. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? Is it possible that the cables between the climate panel and the relay were not wired in the factory while the fog lamp cables were?
Any idea which pin is the fog lamp on the climate panel?

Any wiring diagrams would be much apprecieted too.

Thank you.

It should be plug and play.

Did you install the correct relay?(Not all the blockrelays have the same internals)

Did you turn your lightswitch to city or dimlight?

Do you hear the relay click?

Does the foglightsymbol comes on on your instrument panel?

What if you jumper 30 and 87 on the relayholder?

Both foglights have their own fuse, F7

Schematic can be found in the "Manuals" section.

I didn't use black relay but 2037 type sipea relay.
Did you turn your lightswitch to city or dimlight?
Of course
Do you hear the relay click?
No, the fog lamp relay's 85-86 input is floating.
Does the foglight symbol comes on on your instrument panel?
Only the climate panels LED on the foglamp button shows it's switched off. The instrument panel does not.

I've tried. Fog lamps does work in this case becuase the wiring is complete between the fog lamps, the fuses and the relay output.

The problem is that the fog lamp relay is not switched on even if the fog lamp is switched on by the button on the climate panel.

Thank you for answer and the schametic. According to this both parking light ECU and climate panel ECU can switch on and off the front fog lamp relay.
