164 Q4 ABS problem (no warning light)

Postby AlfaWhiz » Thu Dec 29, 2016 3:26 pm

Guys, I'm still fighting with my ABS. The unit I have currently in my car does not light up the warning light, even during the self-test after the key is turned to first position. ABS is of course not working.

I have checked the G272 connector and I have 12V on pin 2 all the time, good earth on pin 3 and 12V immediately after the key is turned to first position on pins 1 and 4.

When I jump the warning light signal from pin 4 to ground on pin 3, warning light on the dash lights up, so the connection all the way to the instrument cluster is OK.

Why is the light turned off despite the ABS not working (this is not a good failsafe mechanism)? What else can I check before replacing the entire unit (again)?

I had the same, the ABS ECU is not working and There for it Will not give the signal. Try to connect the diagnostic if you dont Get connection, the ECU is out of order. There are capacitors ect that dries out after many years use or no power.

Sounds like an issue with the ABS ECU. Have you gone through the test protocol for the ABS? And I can only recommend to get Wilcos diagnostics sw connected - should save you a lot of time :)
