I live in Taiwan. One of my 1993 164 3.0 24v is suffering brake booster air leakage badly right now. Are there any solution to solve it? As far as I know that there is no more new stock available in market. How do we keep our 164 alive? We need this particular part badly I think. Even if your booster still runs ok. But you never know when it will break down. We need to find a shop that will make our booster or overhaul it.
Any suggestion are absolutely welcome.
How to find or overhaul 3.0 24v brake booster?
Re: How to find or overhaul 3.0 24v brake booster?
Where exactly is it leaking? Picture? It is possible to restore a brake booster I am sure.
If not the part number of the supplier can be cross referenced. Brake boosters are not that much car specific so would also have been used in other cars.

Re: How to find or overhaul 3.0 24v brake booster?
I am sure it is leaking air inside of its rubber diaphragm. Because when I step on brake peddle, idle speed runs rough and leaking air sound can be heard from driver seat. I don' t have a source to identify its cross reference part number. So I am asking help here abroad. I know some shop who can replace it with its own brand booster in Taiwan. But he will need to cut our pushing rod connector from original booster body. I have done it before from him 2 years ago. But I don't want to destroy our original booster this time.
164 12v,24v brake booster wanted across world
I think it is a common weakness among us. There is no more new brake booster available in the market. So I strongly think we need this group to find a shop who can make a new booster for us. Either for now or future part collection. We definitely need that critical part otherwise our loved 164 can't run safely. So I would like to collect a data of how many boosters will be needed here. Then we can negotiate with manufacture about cost we are gonna spend. How does it sound? Please state your thought..

I think it has been discussed on this site, that this part is different for RHD, but not sure. I think someone from Hong Kong was looking into this?

Hello, I think that you say that your problem is the servofreno, if that, it repairs easily and is perfect, in Argentina is something very common, repairs in brake houses, only use the housing of the old brake booster and inside change all Gums, as I told you the result is excellent.
