putting 166 brakes in a 164?

Hi guys,

I own an Alfa 166 3.0 V6 which drives very nicely but has rust, the rear suspension is worn out and the heating / airco is somewhat defunct. So I thought about if its parts could be taken to improve my 164, most of all by putting the Brembo brakes on it? Guess it's not plug'n'pluy but needs an adapter?

Thanks for your ideas and advise
Nils

I know of a few guys who tried it, and I will be looking to do just that as soon as my front rotors wear out :D

From what I heard, you want 166 4 pot calipers and 330 mm brembo discs from GTA. The discs are 32 mm thick compared to 166's 28 mm so calipers need to be widened but still far easier and cheaper than GTA calipers which have a radial mount, thus more difficult to adapt.

166 discs are 5x100 as far as I reckon so no luck with direct plug and play.

No, 166 discs are 5x108

Yes correct, my bad as I wrote of the top of my head.

My point still stands though, not directly useable.

I'm planning on doing mine with 330x32 mm and 166 4 piston calipers as described above but probably earliest next year, so can't help much more other than dropping an idea until then :D

Ah, no, Alfa 166 Brembo should have disks that are 310 x 28 ...

But as AlfaWizz said, those have different bolt pattern (5x108), so unusable on your wheel hubs unless you want to have them re-drilled.
