24V cambelt tensioner pulley bearing question

Post by Giri » Thu Jan 09, 2020 8:58 am

Hi all,

What have you all used as the cambelt tensioner pulley bearing when replacing the belt and associated parts? The supply of 60580235 oem pulleys has more or less dried out and the Dayco ATB2574, which I assume is of OEM quality, is very expensive. I have understood that the cheaper alternatives which are readily available, use a single row bearing while the OEM (and probably Dayco ATB2574 since it is so expensive) has a double row bearing.

I would not want to replace the existing one with an inferior part so am thinking about the alternatives. One possibility is to press out the center hub and use just a new bearing on the old hub. Obviously it would be best to use SKF 633254, which (again I assume) is the one used on the OEM part but I cannot find it anywhere anymore. I remember reading from somewhere that also two single race bearings can be pressed onto the old hub. Has anyone tried that and knows the part number of the bearing?

I will soon start work on my Q4 and will be replacing cambelt and tensioner as well, so interested in this. If I find anything interesting, I will let you know, but so far I have found the same as you have.
