speedometer
Hello everybody.
I need an advice: on my 2L TS 1989 the speedometer indicates wrong speed (60 for 80 for example) then it stops and stays at 90 (km/h).
Could it be the sender or the tacho ??????????Thank you.

Re: speedometer
Hello
Have you solved your problem?
On my Alfa 33 which has a speedometer system similar to 164, I had a problem like this, the hand indicated incorrect values and sometimes it indicated the maximum speed. In my case it was the tachometer which was out of order.

Re: speedometer
Hearing a friend who drives a TD since 1989 the sender is faulty due to some dirt on the sensor.
About the lovely 33, I owned 4 and two of them had a tacho with some problem.
Problem was the tacho but if its not broken it can be cleaned and fixed.
I can be wrong but the 33 has a mechanical gear transmission with cable so if this is not cut the problem comes from the tacho.
On the 164 first series the sensor sends signal to an analogic counter.
On the Super the tacho is digital.
Raphael where are you on the planet ?

I think some of the 33's had electronic tachometer, but not sure.

Re: speedometer
My 33 is a last model with electric speedometer, my father owned a 1.5 QV Sprint with the cable speedometer.
I did not know that it was possible to repair the speedometer, I did not throw away the old one

Bon je suis bien embêté vu que j'ai perdu les deux embouts de capteur dans les deux carters de pont.

La réponse d'ALFAN est venue trop tard je ne pouvais pas deviner cette facétie d'un ingénieur loufoque.

Re: speedometer
You were unlucky
to recover it you have to drain oil and remove the differential cover, it's a complicated if you don't have a pit available.

IT's done, this stupid plastic is out. The carter can be take off still on the car. One can say it to every 164 owner..........
The plastic pinion and wheel are ok .
Must be the sender, gonna put the TD one. If not the sender, I will replace the counter, tell you then. Could be in long time actually the car has no brakes no shocks absorber.................
