The article about those cars becoming classics fits well with the Q4 that sold for 24.000euro at auction recently!

Alfan: Yeah I saw that one. There was a few ~10.000euro cars that now have been removed from autoscout24.com , mobile.de and subito.it as well. No telling if they where sold for those sums in the end but those cars were "for sale" for quite some time without the sellers lowering the price and now they are gone..

Yes, I have also seen that the number of Q4's for sale is reduced and none for small money anymore... I will definitely keep mine - though I don't suspect it will be worth much with the current mileage

At a certain point the mileage becomes less important but rather the condition and originality of the car.
I guess you know this one is for sale, right?

Yes, I talked to the dealer (about something else, not planning on buying this one) and I hope to see it in a couple of weeks (it is in their workshop, as they don't have room for it in the show room).

However, this one seem to have the Danish tax paid, meaning that it would probably be more like 5000 euro.

Great that you got it fixed :D

A corroded sensor - do you have pictures of it?

I got my sensor fixed, so only have one issue left on the 4WD it seems.

The connector. No pics. Put some contact spray in there and connected/disconnected it a couple of times.

Ok, that was a simple thing. What about the voltages you were measuring, was this related to this connector?

Now that I got the steering angle sensor working again, I get a voltage range of 0.5 to 4.3V when having full lock right to left.

Don't know. It's working in the voltage range you are describing now anyway :)

Wow, impressive! I must say when I saw the first clip I had not expected you could take that curve with that entrance speed and then a nicly controlled 4-wheel drift AND with that sound track. I enjoyed that even from my chair here in tropical Thailand!

I hope I don't have to rebuild the engine or anything else expensive between now and the next MOT though ;)

I got a couple of stone chips in the wind screen, but at least it didn't create a crack until 3 days after...

I think you should be ok with the engine :)

Re: 164 Q4 -95 : AC fixed and status report

Post by Maffia_Alfista » Mon May 05, 2014 9:12 pm

AC refilled and working. The engine works great (have put ~2000km on her since rebuild), Love driving this car !! 8)

All needed now for MINT condition now is:

* New or reupholster leather console (sun cracked)
* Fix dent in hood and repaint + repaint front bumper (chipped)
* Send the AC display for pixel fix
* New false firewall (torn by previous mechanic)
* Fix the dampers that don't work in auto-mode anymore (worked before) :(
* Fix ABS
* New pretty floor mats (have a set from Alfastumper.com in mind)
* Refreshing the engine bay
- Blast front coil cover and intake
- New connector rubbers for injectors and other sensors
- Yellow anodizing fuel rails and pressure regulator.
- Paint air filter box stock grey (even though I ADORE the sound of the open K&N filter in place now)

* A fresh coat of wax for sunny Swedish summer days ;)

If anybody have a NOS or really good condition console or false firewall for sale please PM me :)

Needed for fun:

* Mount stainless exhaust I have bought from a crashed Q4 and new sport cats (not bought yet).
* Refurbish 17" Zender Milano wheels (have them in the garage).

Stay tuned :)

Back after an awesome summer with the Q4.

Have racked up over 1500km on the odometer with no bigger issues.

* The AC stopped working again since we had the best summer in Sweden I can remember with many +30C days.
So now I'm quite used to driving motorway speed with open sunroof and windows slightly open

* I have discovered a coolant leak somewhere that have got worse so need to find and fix it.

* The engine cooler fan only starts on the 2nd stage (~+97C) wish made queuing in Stockholm quite interesting.. But it didn't overheat :D

It has also received new summer boots and a 4-wheel alignment (again), don't know what the previous technician did but it have not felt very stable and have eaten tires since the snow melted and the summer tires went on. But after the new alignment it feels like a new car.
