performance exhaust on Q4

Postby Tamariini » Tue May 01, 2012 2:46 pm

Hello,

Have you guys seen any Q4 performance exhaust systems for sale?

I'm beginning to think this cars sound could be a bit more "sporty" than it is now. It is very quiet with stock pipe.

anyone tried to take other muffler off of the tailpipe? any change in sound?

i don't have the kats under anymore. gives higher frequenties.. not really my choice but the former owner did that..
I probably gonna search for other kats or else build some sort of dampers instead of the pipes that are there now.

How did you get it in to Norway without cats??? They can be found on ebay for the Q4, app. 350euro for one.

Someone in Sweden got a custom set made for the mid and rear part of his Q4, I think it was Ferrita?

Even though I have a 'Biltema' just around the corner, I would need to have someone fit them and that means it won't be cheaper for me anyway

It is me that have the custom made Ferrita from cat and back, just one rear muffler. Previus owner had it done at the Ferrita factory in Köping 200 km west of Stockholm.

hows the sound with only one muffler inside the car while cruising? i had one muffler setup (simons) on my 2.5 v6 24v 156 and it had annoying "boom" all the time in cabin while driving. Outside it sounded quite nice 8) I replaced it with CSC catback setup with two silencers and it was excellent.

If you sit in the front its ok even on long trips. In the back it can get a bit noisy above 130 km/h. But its no trouble with our low speed limits here in Sweden.

I took a shot and made an exhaust pipe of my own :)

Bought one stainless muffler from Simons, some pipes and bends and welded all up together.

It bacame actually very nice :D

Sound is convincing, not too loud but noticeable. On cruising you can hardly hear it on cabin but with full throttle....

Hi Guys

I'm new to 164 ownership, but not new to exhaust manufacture.

I own a 3.0 24v QV, 1994, and will be building my own performance exhaust in a month or so.

I already have a fellow brit wanting me to build him a version aswell whilst mine is on the ramp, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to do one or two more at the same time.

I completely understand that a newbie offering exhausts service might be viewed as a little suspicious, but feel free to check me (petrolhead) out on many other alfa forums, where i am a lot more known than i am here.

I have had many years of exhaust work, and am probably one of the very few folk left making the snake-pit that can be the alfasud/sprint/33 performance boxer manifolds amongst many other stuff, including Jtd's, V6's etc

It usually starts with me owning the Alfa first, and then once i get time build my own exhaust, other owners have me do theirs too.

It is always bespoke hand made on the car, from high grade T304 stanless steel, tig welded with matching grade rod, and as a modified kind of man, they will always be built with performance in mind, and be on the louder side of fruity!

If anyones interested, i'm more than willing to talk more about it.

you might like this as a small example of where i'll be heading

Looks good!

CSC has also started manufacturing sports exhausts for Q4s. They're not very cheap though.
