164 The Ultimate project!

Post by ALFAHEIDA » Fri Sep 18, 2009 12:36 pm

We are a year further, now is the rest of the samples already in storage. Space to one another and to prepare.
Well, then kick it. There is much to do.
What is the purpose really. The base is a QV 3.0 so first in '91 with 200 bhp standard type.
Motor block the board up to 3.5 with Cosworth pistons and the infamous bus.
Headers can be edited etc.
Standard gearbox is replaced by a 6-gears from the 166 3.0, Q2 diff course.
Furthermore, the car from Germany so this is a beautiful specimen with the Recaro it all again I would bring in new condition.
Since the car comes from Germany is also of everything I do not want such a big boom boom installation.
An early impression ....

Not to be sneezed Recarootje …

The standard has wonderful tor …

Yet it quickly finalize the trunk and Magnat stuff out

ZOW that's better, but also the wiring and also run after removing what is unnecessary.
Image

What a mess .... just to sit quietly, then.
Image

On the other hand, is the computer for controlling the electronic shock absorbers to get a thorough cleaning.
Because it will sit up there of course.

Bumper already removed along with the rear lights and reflectors bar. Meanwhile it
Block / Carter in Cruiquis Dymo track of the men who bore the care.
The heads are in Fred van Lingen they modify it.
The standard QV camshaft is out and there is a camshaft in Savali.

Today the famous Ed did a quick visit at Berlikum, and brought some goodies.
So the real project can begin. The 6-speed only needs a Q2 dif (LSD). and is going to be cleaned.
Next week the engine will be taken out, to make room for the 3.5 Savali Cosworth engine, but till then there's a lot to do.

Goed, life goes on....
Today me and Renze released the car from it's engine. Bythe way a very nice running engine that 3.0 V6 was.
This engine has to make room for the Savali Cosworth 3.5.
Some pics:

Give the engine some room, so nothing will get hurt.

It's time to move things together, lack of space is the problem.
Till next time,

@aleshka; You mean whether alfaheida will install a 6 speed gearbox?

By the way, like you webpage: http://www.drive2.ru/cars/alfaromeo/164 ... eshka1471/

Renze, began starting to build up my 3.5 Engine (12v).
Here some pics:

Here you can see that we had to remove some material to fit in the sleeves.

Image

Basic, it's the same like a Savali but in the end it's different. Camshafts are different and lots of other things are done.

Nice project! love pic's of stripped down engines :) played with the thought of building a 2l Lancia\Fiat engine myself.

Off topic: In a total engine failure like i had (pistons took a stroll throughout the sump) is it possible that the engine block is still usable? and how much can this standard block handle?

Well, when nothing looks damaged or expanded through heat you could try and build the engine up new.
Other thing is it will cost some, but every hobby does....would be nice to save your Turbo.

Erwin

There are a few 4c Turbo's left and it's a rare model. Rebuilding it would be special too.
