Hi..firstly thanks to 164TD for your opinion on the QV gearbox. As I mentioned earlier some ussues with my clutch which gave way and later on openjng up the gearbox, it looks like a complete overhaul is necessary. I was wondering ehether to overhaul or put in a QV gesrbox instead into my 164 3l 12v.
any issues here. Are the clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing the same for QV as for standard as I hv already bought a set of these(valeo) for my std gearbox.
any other issues transplanting a QV gearbox? I know QV has better ratio and I can expect better response with the QV..better to overhaul the std gearbox or transplant ?
opinions and ideas n xperiences please do share..
thanks

Re: QV gearbox
No problem there. Only the ratio's from the Qv box are different. First and second gear are way shorter.
You could also fit in a 156/166 6 speed gearbox. A little more complex but I have one in my 3.5 V6 12v.

Thanks alfaheida...
my car is in the process of transplantation with QV gearbox..hopefully the dIfferent ratio will result in better response on the road..and probably improved horsepower ..

Re: QV gearbox
Hi guys, appreciate your opinions. Any with experience using a 2.5v6 156 gearbox on a 164 3l 12v? How would you rate it in comparison with the std 164 3l gearbox or the QV gearbox.
i hv a QV in mine now...as mentioned by alfaheida the 1st and 2nd gear is pretty short...
