Alfa 164 - converting to Selespeed?

Hello guys,

It's feasible to convert an Alfa 164 V6 24V to Selespeed?

I own 2 Alfa 164, both Super V6 24V in Blu Genoa, one of them with manual, the other with automatic gearbox. Honesly I appreciate the automatic within city traffics. But the manual is definitely more fun to drive.

So I was thinking about the Alfa 156 GTA Selespeed and if it would fit into the Alfa 164 without major problems. The GTA engine is quite similar to the 3.0 V6 24V. Someone here in the forum already converted his 164 to a 3.2 GTA. Other have mounted the 6speed gearbox attheir 164 V6. So the specific Selespeed parts would be to build in and lastly the motor/gearbox control unit (software and cables). Does any of you know if this work could be done successfully and without huge efforts? Yes, I know that Selespeedparts are quite costy and that this would take some workdays to pay for.

Look forward to read what you think about this idea.

An interesting thought - but I don't recall having read anywhere about putting it into a 164.

I don't know details about the selespeed system, but I guess the 2 main details would be space for it and how it is connected to the engine ECU/electronics. The last part is probably not going to be easy...

Thanks for posting your thoughts about it.

Let me refer to your last point: Why not taking all the ECU/engine electronics from the 3.2. It should work at the 3.0 engine, even if it's the elder version in the 164. Or am I wrong?

Regarding the matter with the need of space: the 164 should be roomier as the 156, shouldn't it?

Does anybody know if it would be plug'n'play to change the auto-gerabox (ZF 4hp18e) to the one from 166 3.0 Sporttronic (ZF 4hp20)? Even if the Sporttronic is still a 4 speed auto it is a bit more up to date and it has a hand shifting mode.
