What Size Wheels Are best?
What Size Wheels Are best?
My old girl has a set of 15 inch 5-spoke Zender alloys shod with 205/55 15s. I was just interested to know if anyone has ever compared the 15" rims to the 16" rims as fitted to the 24v motors. Is there much of an advantage in grip and handling?
I really like the style of the Zenders but they do look about an inch too small.

I have the Zender Sport 16 Inch under my 75, looks really great. Even for the 164 it's ultimate. Handling is great.

Re: What Size Wheels Are best?
Hmm. Wrote a reply, but something went wrong...
I'll try again.
I have 16" at my Q4, and the former owner had 18" at it.
The 18" (at least the one he had on...) did ruin the fenders, rubbing the edges. He is running a pro company that deals with Alloy rims and sports tires, with a special in Italien cars.
But in my opinion, the 16" has to much a wobbel feeling, due to the higher sidewalls of the tires. (On a set of 205/55-16)
And i am looking for a set of 17", which should add the right feeling to the steering, crispy responce, precise feeling, think corner, aim and floor the pedal.
This would of course ba personal thoughts, and relay to susspension settings personal feelings etc.
But for sure, the perfect rim/tire combo would be 16-17"

Nice pics. Wow they look gorgeous! That's just what I'd like. I love the look of the Zender 5-spokes. An extra inch would just be perfect.... funny, my wife often says that too. Doh!
Where did you get hold of a set of Zenders in the larger size?

What is the PCD on the 164? I'm guessing the 75s are the same. Am I right? I've found a set of Zender Sports but I think the PCD is different. 5x120 is too big I think, but not sure.

Re: What Size Wheels Are best?
I found a lovely looking set of four Zender Sports 16" with tyres in Austrian Ebay. Unfortunately £700 is a bit too much for my wallet right now, so I've got a set of 16" teledials of a 156 as a temporary stop gap until I can afford a decent set of Zender Sports. I bought em off ebay supposedly with 4 useable tyres but one seems to have been ruined buy rubbing against something on its previous application. Don't you just hate it when someone lies in the description?! Grr! Once I've washed the car and wheels I might get around to taking a pic of Sophia with her new wheels.
Re: What Size Wheels Are best?
Hi if anyone reading this is interested in how after finding your wheel of choice, tyre sizes compare ie. getting to far away from factory recommended tyre Diameter of 25 inches top to bottom. Too small will result in wheel spin and a bullet around town or over and sluggish of the mark and a higher top speed each gear. Found this tyre size calculator/ comparison page really helpful trying to sort out messed up tyre sizes on mine.
