164 V6 24v engine
Hi.
Have resently been wondering about the Busso engine.
It's a really nice and beefy engineering achievement.
But, it lacks only in one way.
It's not as crispy reving as it could be, lightning fast revings wanted!
What would it take...
Lightening the flywheel.
Lightening the crancshaft
Lightening the con rods
Lightening the pistons
Getting everything balanced perfectly.
But could this end with a rev happy engine like the in new 8C? Or is it too much to hope for?
And i know, it will suffer from a loss in torque!
Suggestions and thoughts are welcome.

if you lighten the flywheel, it will get more nervous.
The lighter you make the other parts, the better to reach higher rpm's. the downside is, you weaken the materials which can cause serious engine blowups.
i think, i would rather go fot a twinturbo or compressor if i wanted a project and spend alot of money

I have no intention just to grind anything of the standard parts.
I was like thinking, lighter connection rods like arrows titanium, etc...
It's just to see if anybody know the outcome, will it be as rev happy as the 8C?
I have an extra engine laying arround, so it could become a project.

You may know of this book that came out last year:

LINK for ordering
It deals a.o. with mounting a compressor.

Re: 164 V6 24v engine
I saw this book for sale a while ago and thought I'd love to have one. Is it any good?
To make you engine rev quicker you could try a different camshaft profile?
I did this along with a different chip on my 12v and it revs up very quickly.

Re: 164 V6 24v engine
One of the most popular mods is to use the GTA cams this may help not cheap though
also the GTA inlet chrome runners .
I personally think the smooth torque and power is what the busso is all about.
If you really want revvy you need a Honda type R or similar

to make a 24v react more violently on the throttle ,try some throttlebodies
