Been some time since last post.
But i'm still active and have still my 164Q4's and until resent, also a 164 TD.
That car is about to get it's history revealed here, at least the few last month until sudden death. The 22. December 2013.
I must inform you.
I was alone in the car, and i am ok.

But let me introduce you to my TD...

Note the footwell...

I must say, that even an old car, as long as it's rust free and well maintained, is a really safe place to be.
And the 164 is a proof of this.
What happend?
I had a wonderfull day, where i had bought a 85' Alfa GTV 2,0 which should entertain me all summer.
The weather was mild, road was moist, not wet, and oly light rain on and off.
I was almost home from a 500 km trip, 60 km left, and i overtook another car, speed 120 km/h.
I eased off the throttle, and took of some speed while entering a soft curve to the right.
Here i register something odd, and i think "What the F#%#... " there was suddently a complete white road!!!
3 centimeters of frozen hail. It was like driving on marbel balls, i feel the car starting a slide to the left with the rear, i hit the throttle, no responce, i start counter steering, no responce.
I look out of the side window. Ditch and trees...
I prepare myself for impact.
Closes my eyes, grab the sterring wheel and leans a bit to the right.
Havoc.... Then complete quiet.
Opens my eyes, and nothing is where i remember it should be.
Something touches my upper left leg, What the... That was the top mount of the seatbelt, i unbuckle.
Then i starts feeling pain in my lower left leg.
I realize my foot is outside, i pull up in my pants, and see my foot is in a very odd angle, dangeling... Ouch!
i get my leg inside, but can't seem to find room for both feet in the footwell... I can also only feel 1 pedal.
At this point i hear a car comming and stopping.
People arrive and starts helping.
Soon pro help was there, doctors rescue'ers and police.
All telling me, that when they look at the car first time, there first thought was. "No one can survive that..."
Front door was torn open, enginecompartment bend 90 deg to the right, all galss in front, left side and rear was exploded, trunk was deformed but still looked. Car was 1,5 meter longer than normally....
And i cut a tree down, with a diameter of a 1/2 meter, (Impacted in the front part of the door/footwell)
The steering column and steering wheel was out through the front window, and the back of the drivers seat was broken. The clutch pedal was broken off, the brake pedal was bendt over and hitting the throttle to max.
I was soon at hospital, within 1 hour from accident. I had several Xray examns, i was scanned several times for internally damage, also scanned for brain damage.
And first after 4 1/2 hour they realized i had only a fractured left leg, and a small scratch over my left eye. Here i got rid of a nasty back and neck support that immobilize any movements.
That's all, i am already at home again, and i have been operated with a metal rod inserted in the hollw part of my bones secured with two screws in top and two in the bottom.
I may steep full force on it, as soon as the wounds from the operation heals.
I think i now can say that i shaked hand with death, but told him. "See you later, pal."
Looking at the wreck, it's amazing what human body can take, but the car helped me survive.
I was not trapped inside, or my feet was not trapped between anything. Had i not broken my left leg, i litterely could have walked away!
Have a nice holliday
and drive carefully.
