Yeah! Post some pics of the doortrims and Recaro's.
You are right the sitting position in the Recaro's is much better.

Re: My 164 24V QV...
I look closely at those door trims, they are home-made, I dont believe Recaros are in TD from factory, so someone bought them from a wreck etc...
Also armrest is added, maybe i keep it, isnt bad thing for long distances...
I ordered black color for leather, so i believe they will be good looking after some work..

Re: My 164 24V QV...
Looking good.
The condition of the seats are not that bad.
The worn parts are an easy fix, and the rest only needs some leather-grease and hard labour...
Start by cleaning them in... I don't know the english word... But it is a thick liquid brown soap, mixed with water. (Maybe it's just called brown sooap.
)
A mild solution, not too much soap in it, that will remove all old grease and dirt, and prepare the leather to the leather treatment.
I used to work for a company that make upholstery to cars.

x3mperformance : I know what you mean
I will make some photos of the progress...
I also found this thread http://alfa164register.nl/viewtopic.php?t=4113 from Alfaheida, it looks the plastic sides is a pain of all those seats... On mine is the upper piece missing, so I have work for long winter evenings...

Mine is broken too... A weak spot the seats have, but i will try to do a repair, of that plastic instead of just replacing it.
If it works, it will save some money, and some Recaro seats.
It's a great pleasure to do things by yourself. Especially when parts are becomming more and more rare.
I like you even dare to use your car at a race track...
Done some motorsports myself, and a lot of (Younger) guys, think they brake the car by useing it at race.
Friday and saterday night, the same guys ar doing illegal streetracing

I had a Tipo with a Integrale engine/Dedra 2000 Turbo viscose lsd gearbox, that i used for club rallying, that was AWSOME!
You get to use the car, as it is intended to, and the kid inside you, are being out at the open.

Better at a closed ground, than in traffic...

Re: My 164 24V QV...
I don't think those door panels were ever sold on any 164. Strange that the previous owner put those on when he invested in Recaros. Anyway, congrats with the purchase! And yes, Heida is the world's foremost expert on Recaro side panel restorations. You may think that is limited praise but in 164 circles that is not to be sniffed at!

Re: My 164 24V QV...
So, mission accomplished.
Little problem was with the reinforcement under drivers seat, which was in the way of forward-back motor. Solved with hammer
And conectors doesnt fit, so little reconnection was necessary. Anyway, it is now totally different car, they are perfectly solid, when I drive in the TD with sport seats, its like sitting on couch
After cleaning, they looks far better...

Good opurtunity to vacuum the floor...

Thank you very much for comments

That's pretty amazing; I more or less expectede that all the other seats would improve a lot just from cleaning and waxing but your driver seat had some serious chafing and the damage seems almost invisible now. Great work!

Re: My 164 24V QV...
Looks really good.
More or less what i had expected.
But i see the Recaro's was in good company....
That for sure a nice job you have done.
And yes, leather has to be maintained, to stay fresh. It is like a living thing, and cleaning and leathergrease are essentials.
Just sad, i have to do all my work alone...

TD is sold, so the final price for Recaros is about 70Euro
They fit perfectly to the character of sporty QV, low and solid, much better than the sport ones, I really love them

Wish I could, but it would cost a fortune to get them transported to SA.
