1995 164 Q4 with only 5244 km, crashed

Post by AlfaWhiz » Tue Mar 18, 2014 5:27 pm

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Alfa-164-Q4-Bj-9 ... 7675.l2557

The price is a bit high, but it would make a fantastic donor car, or a restoration base. Since there were no buyers, maybe someone would be interested and would dare to negotiate?

The only confusing part is that the seller says "looking for a Q4 body" in the description, as long as I understand him correctly, which does not make much sense.

By the way, if the km stand is true, that HAD to hurt...

Perhaps he changed his mind. It's gone now anyway.

The car is offered again and again - for a long time.

At 1st sight it looks like a great car - Q4, grigio, low milage - to collect even due to the fact that it has to be rebuild. The pity is that the cars has no papers. Without original documents the low milage is worth nothing.

This car is in really bad condition. The milage seems to be correct, but it was the same milage the car had in 1995 when it was damaged in a major accident.
Since then, due to some issues with the insurance company and the road recovery services, the car has been standing outside, unattended, unprotected and uncared for.
Everything's rusted, corroded, sun battered and dried out. A lot of electrical connectors are cut. On the interior it looks like a sty...
Of course there are some salvagable items on this car, but in my opinion this car will never hit the road again.
See for yourselves.

Thanks for the link Hilko and for re-posting the photos 164 TD.

Oh... my... lord. This is just sad. :?

Incredibly sad story, all things considered. And the car preety much went to waste. Most probably mechanical internals are welded together by now.

To be honest I was expecting to see intact interior and many salvageable parts, but mother nature saw her first and slowly claims her back.

That said, for sure some parts are worth salvaging, like the brake booster/master, ABS unit, Viscomatic pump, gearbox, Viscomatic itself, and so on. I would be tempted to take it for 500 EUR or so, if I had space.

Makes me very sad.

To recap on this car, I can mention that (according to the info I got) I bought some of the parts from this car, from someone who bought some more parts, from the guy who bought this actual car. So it is being recycled to some extend :)
