I don't think we have a member from the Philippines on our site yet, but they are definitely present there as these 2 ads are testament of:

just wondering East, how is your parts supply there ? can you get most of the parts or do you have to find them elsewhere ?

Parts supply is bad. There is an Alfa importer (the old one who imported mine, Italsiam, lost the agency and has closed down) but they started with the 156/166 and newer models and knows nothing about the 164. Yes, I could order parts thru him but then it's better to order them by myself. And mostly cheaper. Today, however, I heard some good news from my mechanic I ran into at the noodle shop; he mentioned that for the first time he has mounted A-arms (front) from an OEM source which are in his opinion even better than the original Alfa parts. Mine have to be replaced soon; will report the make/source here.

The only advantage here is that there are lot of things we can make to order or overhaul without costing an arm and a a leg. A top of the line radiator (middle Eastern spec) is Bht 7,000 (EUR 175). Aircon parts are a fraction of what you pay in Europe and the overhaul of the steering rack can be done professionally for much less than what it would cost in the West.

But all in all, it would be tough to drive your 164 here as a daily driver if you had to depend on it. As I mentioned elsewhere, I had a Pug 406 as a daily driver which is much more common, but that had to go. I mentioned a relatively cheap for sale 166 (LHD) ex-Italian ambassador 2.5 liter to my mechanic but he made a face as if he bit on a raw onion and forbade me to buy it as it is way more troublesome than the 164 (especially the electronics) in his experience.
So, for now, I have only the 164 as I do not need a car everyday, but when the great maintenance jobs which have to be done this year come up I will have to get an alternative run-about. Have not made up my mind yet.

thats a bit of my problem here too.. not too many alfa's and especialy no 164 Q4's so al special parts have to come from outside the country and i have to pay tax over the import...
now my luck is , i can make lots of it myself.. but still not cheap..

Both ads are online since last year. Assumeably there is not so strong demand for an Alfa 164.

A direct consequence of the parts supply Wilco and I described. Who wants to put up with that? Also the 105-series is more popular as classic car with most Alfa enthousiasts so it (the 164) becomes more of an oddity than anything else. Not suitable as every day car and not coveted enough to be a treasured weekend car. I think we are fortunate to have a cheap communication tool like the internet and some well-meaning administrators who are willing to run this site and knowledgeable members who share their experiences which keeps this hobby possible at all.
