Let's see if AlfaWhiz responds - otherwise I will have to take the one of the engine off my car.

It would be good if someone would respond, as it seems that all the fuss is around nothing :(

Then I will have to see about shipping mine to you at some point over summer, so that I can put a new one in, so that it is ready for winter driving.

Right now I have about 3 week producrion que, which I am constantly reducing. So if you or anyone could send me a sample by early July, I could then start working on it.

Those Q4 hoses are VERY rare. They are still in the car and nobody can therefore miss it and the only person who does have some spares of them, immediately ships them to Asia for extremely high prices; so no expectations from him either. :(

My hose is only a bit torn on the throttlehousing side; fixed it with some two-component kit.

It sound like you have tried sourcing an extra? I guess there are still a few Q4's in Asia...

Anyway, if nothing else comes out of this within the next month, I will probably take the one from my car and ship to Artiz1 - and hope for the best!

As I already said - a torn, unusable hose is absolutely fine - as long as I can recreate the internal diameter of both ends and the approx lengh with breather connector locations. Maybe someone has a crappy hose that can send me?

Nothing to worry about - there is already light at the end of the tunnel! :) Allan from Sweden was kind enough to send his hose to me. It has been sent out a few days ago and should arrive sometime next week. I already have prepared the black silicone for manufacturing of OEM look replacements, so fingers crossed everybody!...

Look what the mailman brought today :)

I'll start work on it already later today.
Immediately I have a question for you guys - how does the temperature sensor connect to the hose - I see there is a special cutout for the sensor - does it just slide inside or is it secured by a jubilee clamp?

:D

If you are referring to the lower right opening, then it slides in. I removed that before shipping it. So this should be very precise to work properly ;)

Yeah, I already found this out myself :)
Just going to order that sensor from a local part shop to have a precise sample:
https://www.autoaibe.lt/detales/ismetam ... klis-95697" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This may be a bit trickier than I thought. As regular intake hoses don't have things like that, only the breather connections.
But I like challenges, so this will be interesting :)

Small update: the stainless steel bits required to make the mandrel tool have been cut and now are in the hands of my welder. He said, that by Tuesday I should have the completed tool in my hands. Will update you guys then!

Update - on Tuesday evening I got the completed mandrel tool from my welder. I should've had a completed hose by this morning, but that bloody temperature sender location is something we never have done before. Seems nothing too fancy, but has to be ideal and precise. What I also noticed is that it is extremely hard to install that sensor in an old, used hose. Here, yet again silicone will show it's advantage, because it is more flexible.
Anyway, the completed hose will be ready during the weekend. Once it's done, I will be able to determine the exact price as well.

Hi all!
Here are the pictures of the first prototype:
Image
Image
Image
Image

And here is one to see how roughly it would look in the car:
Image

Sorry for the picture quality - it was nearly 11PM on Friday, when I completed the hose and done these pics...

The hose is not perfect - the tool needs to be reshaped at the throttle body side - the round angle is a bit off. That's the normal process and it is very rare to get a perfect sample from the first go. Apart from that, it will look like you see it.
Also, I made the hose about 1cm longer at each end (can be trimmed) - this is what I do with all the hoses - in the past I had some cars that were involved in accidents and were mended not perfectly so the original component locations were off by about 1cm.
Anyway, I'm kinda proud of the sensor mounting place - never done this before but to my surprise it turned out very well :)

And I can now clarify the actual price - in the begining I mentioned that it should be approximately 80 GBP including postage and VAT. That was when GBP was around 1.4 to Eur (would be 112 Eur). I believe since most of you are from outside UK and since the Pound has now somewhat unstable lets value things in Eur. So let's leave the price at 110 Eur. That is including VAT and postage to anywhere in EU.

Now I'd like to hear your honnest thoughts and opinions on the hose itself :)
Thanks.

P.S. Depending on my welder, I hope to get the tool reshaped latest by Thursday.
