Yes, values seem to be ok. The lambda probe sends voltage between 180mV and 800mV at idle; water temperature was >95°C when I had the Marelli tester connected with the car.
I need to do an emission check next Monday, hope the car will pass the test.

Re: Tank venting / periodic hissing noise
No, it's happing only during driving. There is a also a hissing noise when opening the tank cover, but I think this is a normal noise. The car runs fine so far. The only thing that I could observe with the Marelli tester is it enriches the mixture at idle quite a lot. The values are still in the ran...

Tank venting / periodic hissing noise
I hope that someone here is maybe able to help. After 20-30 minutes of driving, I hear a regular hiss of about 2 seconds duration from the rear / from the trunk. The hissing goes along with the opening of the fuel tank vent valve, so whenever the fuel vapor is fed into the intake. I suspect there is...

Early Q4 Control Units for sale
SOLD . I sell some control units from an early Q4, which was driven by my wife’s uncle (one owner, regular maintenance done). This car stranded with an engine failure (~150k km) about 15 years ago and it was taken to junk yard 10 years ago. I removed some parts for my Super and the control units be...

Front brake discs >10/1992
It's getting more and more difficult to find a source that can deliver new brake discs for the Super/FL models. All the known brands (ATE, BOSCH, BREMBO) show nla. I was curious whether same sized discs are used on other cars. It seems that the Alfa 164 brake discs have the same dimension like Fiat ...

Re: Buying advise needed, can't get it out of my head
I prefer the 24V version over the 12V - because I own one :D My car is retrofitted with the bigger air intake runners from a Q4 and it has 200 HP at the wheels (dyno tested)! The 12V engine produces 180 HP, which means max. 140 HP at the wheels... https://i.postimg.cc/rDTjKCcH/Dyno-test.jpg The Q4 i...

When my fan had started making some noise, I replaced the fan with a new one for a Saab 9000. These fans are still available and the price is only 1/3 of the original price. https://www.skandix.de/de/fahrzeug-teile/1022036/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIq7CV79Tj9AIVkM13Ch2FTAPXEAQYAyABEgI-zvD_BwE It actually ha...

Hi Mitsos,
I have that ECU. This is the version without Alfa Code, right?
If you`re interested, just let me know.

Re: 164 Q4 rough when cold and rpms drop slowly
Quite simple calculation: I = U/R = 12V/14.5ohm = 0.83 ampere I = U/R = 12V/15.9ohm = 0.75 ampere Difference is + 0.08A, which means +10,7% current and +10,7% load on the ecu. You have to decide, if it's dangerous or not. But I highly recommend not to replace the original injectors with the newer ty...

Re: 164 Q4 rough when cold and rpms drop slowly
Pro tip: newer Bosch injectors (red) with 4 nozzles for 3.2, GTA, etc. fit nearly out of the box. Good tip to kill the ecu! The red valves have a resistance of 14.5 Ohm, whereas the original valves have 15.9 Ohm. This results in 10% higher current in the ecu, which is not good at all... You could i...

Re: 164 Q4 rough when cold and rpms drop slowly
I would check the fuel pressure before removing the injectors, because it is simple to do. If there is your issue, you will save a lot of work. Further recommendation from my side: Check spark plugs and do the compression test on front bank at first! When the spark plugs are looking good and the com...

I have a whole ABS unit for a Q4. It's from a '94 model (130,000km) that I parted out some years ago.
The unit is in a garage 200km away from my home and I will get by the first September weekend. My offer is 180€ including shipment (EU).

Re: 164 Q4 rough when cold and rpms drop slowly
Yes, you may have a few issues at the same time. Basics are checked, but: False air leakage is my favorite and needs still to be investigated. Take 2-3 bottles of break cleaner and spray it all over the intake stuff. Fuel evaporation valve could also be an item. Disconnect the hose from the plenum a...

Re: 3 Liter engine of Lancia Kappa versus 164 Q4
Kappa has two versions of the V6 24V. The oldest is comparable to the 164, the later version is comparable to 156, 166 and 916 engines. Since the Kappa use the same camshaft sensor, you do not need to change the right exhaust camshaft! The Super V6 24v has the same engine block as your Q4, only diff...

Re: 164 Q4 rough when cold and rpms drop slowly
There is a false air leakage. Bad injectors don't keep RPM up, they may be an issue of rough idle.
Spray break cleaner at every possible location and listen carefully.

Re: LMM hose.
I pull this thread up and want to move it in an other direction. Yes, my 24V also suffers from a damaged LMM hose, but I could fix it with some black silicone and it is tight for years now. I guess, that most of the cracked hoses can be repaired with this method. When something is really needed and ...

1) You have to wait until the engine is completely cool and first cylinder is at TDC (in ignition stroke!). Only this will give you a hint, if the belt tension is correct or not. 2) Oil pressure seems to be ok. The gauge in the dashboard is not reliable, so you could check the actual oil pressure by...

Re: The work never ends
First invest is high, but you could avoid any engine trouble for the next twenty years. You can spread your search to all 24V models since the engine is the same as for your Q4. The only difference is the exhaust cam shaft of the right cylinder raw and the support of the cam shaft sensor. Quick fix:...

Give them a call and tell your problem. I'm sure that you get your car back on the road soon! Of course, good quality ...

Re: 24V QV cambelt parts and tools
I checked the cambelt timing on my 24V today. The exhaust cam shaft of the right cylinder row (that is close to the fire wall) is slightly wrong, all other fit perfect. Now I want to adjust the cam shaft, but I discovered a problem: There is only 3 cm clearance between the pulley and the wheel housi...
