OUCH dude! Glad to hear you are ok apart from the broken leg. It is good to know that the 164 is good at protecting its occupants in an accident though. I hope your leg heals well and quickly. Sorry your nice car is now dead.
Best wishes
Tom

Re: Aircon compressor Pulley problem
Thanks that is a most useful bodge that is worth bearing in mind for the future. However I ended up getting another compressor complete with pulley in the end. Cost me a bit more than I would have liked but it did the job. While I was at it I fitted a brand new pulley bearing and cemented it into th...

Re: A/C Compressor Clutch, Electromagnet and Pulley Set
Yes I found the one for my model. It seems that it was only the USA market that had the twin pulley like mine. So I have bought a s/hand one from the states. Goodness knows why they had a different arrangement than the UK cars. The one for sale on ebay is one of the UK/European types of pulley and i...

Re: Restoring a TwinSpark Super to its former glory
You're doing a good job. I note how they all go rusty in the same places. I had to do all the same things you have done a couple of years ago. It is about time I did some of it again. Damn the english weather and salty roads! If only I lived in a warmer climate.

A/C Compressor Clutch, Electromagnet and Pulley Set
Just thought you guys might want to see this rare item for sale. Alfa don't make them anymore and new compressors are very expensive. If the clutch has gone on yours, fit a new one!

Re: V6 12v 'leaf in Stratos
I'm fairly sure you need the oxygen sensor on the Cloverleaf. On the normal 12v V6 you don't have to have one, but I don't think that they ever made any Cloverleafs without one and the ECU is a different number than the normal v6. It might run without one, but it might not run very well. However, yo...

Re: the ignition distributor
There is not likely to be a fault with the dizzy itself but the parts bolted onto it. The Distributor Cap or the Rotor Arm may be at fault. A visual inspection may reveal faults but not always. You can simply try fitting a new cap and a new rotor. But the cap is sometimes a bit expensive. Shop aroun...

Re: Aircon Compressor and/or Pulley
My possible solution didn't work. I still need a new pulley or used compressor with the same pulley. Can anyone help please? I'm getting rather desperate as I cannot use the car until it is fixed and it is my sole form of transport.

Have you got an air conditioning compressor please? A faulty one might do, I just need the pulley.

Re: Aircon Compressor and/or Pulley
The pulley is damaged. I already have a new bearing but there is very little metal to rebore the pulley and put a larger than standard bearing in without risking cracking the pulley. I might have found a possible solution using a bearing fixing compound called quick metal from Loctite. So I'll see i...

Aircon compressor Pulley problem
Has anyone ever had an aircon compressor pulley bearing problem? Mine has the bearing not seating tightly and the pulley wobbles about. Any ideas how to fix this? Has anyone ever found a place that will supply a replacement pulley? I've got a brand new bearing but the pulley is worn too much for it ...

Aircon Compressor and/or Pulley
Does anyone have an aircon compressor pulley or an aircon compressor in need of reconning? I have a 3.0 12v V6 with aircon the aircon and pulley system came off a 1991 car but it seems unusual in that the pulley is a double pulley. It is for 2 belts. One from the crankshaft pulley and the other for ...

Re: How do I upgrade the brakes on a 3.0 cheaply?
I have found out that if you want 330mm discs you not only need the carriers but also the calipers, because the calipers are radial-mounted. Have yet to find a set though!

Re: How do I upgrade the brakes on a 3.0 cheaply?
That does not seem horrendously expensive. Problem is I can't find any mention of discs for the 164 on their site http://roeschbrake.it/index.php/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Did you have any part numbers or specification details please?

Re: How do I upgrade the brakes on a 3.0 cheaply?
I wondered if anyone had any experience at fitting the 330mm discs from a 147 3.2?
They have the same PCD so should in theory fit if you got the calipers and carriers, but I'm unsure as to whether they would fit under 15" rims.
Any comments?

How do I upgrade the brakes on a 3.0 cheaply?
This is a new topic leading on from one that we hijacked ("oops I did it again"). Some helpful chaps suggested it is possible to fit larger discs from a 24v to improve the braking power. I had a look today and found out that Mintex and Pagid recommend two different types of disc for the 3....

Re: Oops I did it again
I had a look today and found out that Mintex and Pagid recommend two different types of disc for the 3.0 164 one is 281mm and the other is 284mm. I cannot imagine any noticable difference coming from fitting discs that are only 3mm larger in diameter. They are both listed for standard 3.0 12v AND 24...

I was thinking. Why do the hubs need to be replaced? Isn't it possible to simply replace the discs and the caliper carriers?

Re: cabin air leak
Check and adjust the door lock posts is a very good idea. They often come loose. But check that tehy are not worn. They have a rubber bush on the door posts which can wear with age and cause the doors not to close as tightly. If the rubber is worn you will need to replace the posts.

Re: 164 Q4, Finland
Interesting. I saw recently the weird method of adding a turbo to the back of the exhaust. I have to say I was somewhat surprised. It might be easier that trying to find room in the engine bay on a 164 but I can't help wondering if there is a large amount of turbo lag. http://ststurbo.com/technology...
