Re: Engine thermal death due to fault in transmission oil cooler (automatic)?
A long read, but interesting info! I may have lost the overview a bit, but when replacing the engine(s) I guess you also had new/other waterpump thermostat and other ancillaries? Same transmission? New/other radiator? If some of this was replaced, I would rule out those being the main cause of the p...

Re: 3.0 12V accelerates itself
Sounds to me like an airleak, which has increased over time... Maybe combined with an electrical issue, when it occurs.
I don't have anything more specific, but I guess the suggestions in similar situations of trying to spray something (non-flammable) around the hoses might be a place to start.

That is looking really good!
The original one in my Q4 is still looking good (I think), but I will see if something should be done to it, when it is time to put it back in....

I don't know, but I think it will be difficult to find, unless they have an armoured version, where the springs are stronger for the extra weight.

I don't know much about the 2L version, but I guess a place to look is at the throttle linkage to the plenum - maybe it has become a bit 'sticky' over time?

Re: Long time road going 164 Q4 1994 project
So started to take the engine apart. By handturning the engine, I got 5 - 6 bar on each cylinder, so happy with that. Taking the top apart has mainly shown a good state of the parts, which I am happy about - and also expected to some point :) A little bit of marks on one of the cams, will have to lo...

I have attached a zip file here, containing 2 different versions, depending on if you need to use a 90deg setup, as I did.

Yes, as I have mentioned on a few occasions, Nagengast have done a great job on the adjustable shocks on my Q4 and 8.32, and steering racks for both, as well.

Not really much Q4 specific up to this point, but will be later. And good to have you back on the forum
Yes, a Q4 meetup would be a great idea, some day it should be possible

I don't recall the number, but am quite sure that it is different because of the 4WD.

I am in for contacting them, if you find a way.
Have you considered rebuilding the original ones or are they rusted away?

If you believe it is the pump unit, I would suggest to have an expert look at it.
Otherwise Ed Alfist is my best suggestion for a spare unit.

Re: Long time road going 164 Q4 1994 project
The 164 was a solidly made car in so many ways, something Marchionne never really did understand... Last weekend I got the windscreen out (it was cracked) and got the chrome lists of in good shape. I have new screen and lists. Also the rear screen was removed, but that ended up in a lot of pieces an...

Re: Long time road going 164 Q4 1994 project
So I have taken the bumpers apart - so many rivets in these, but after 30 years and 550kkm I can only conclude that they are well made :) Also the inner roof is now out, as I want to remove the front and rear windshields next weekend, so that it is prepared for rust work, which will hopefully start ...
