Alfa Day Hong Kong 2013

Post by KY2006 »

Folks,

Here is a link to a series of pictures of Alfa Day taken last Sunday 27 Oct 2013 in Hong Kong.

There are, I believe, about 500 to 600 Alfas in Hong Kong. About 80 gathered together last Sunday to celebrate the the event, the 6th since the first held in 2008.

Here is my recent post in the Hong Kong site.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the compliments. There are indeed very few 164s still running in Hong Kong. Costs of maintenance, lack of parts and difficulty finding capable and willing Alfa specialist mechanics are major barriers. There is one 164QV24 whose owner is almost giving up and is offering his as a parts car. This is a pity. One of the former owners kept the Speedline QV rims before selling the car and this was a shame. Car is generally fine, low mileage, in red and black interior. The current owner scrapped his 12V 164 to get this one but after nearly two years is giving up the car as the brake power booster failed (temporarily repaired); and now the aircon unit also failed and is too costly and troublesome to replace.... If anyone is interested in rescuing this QV please let me know. You can find this red QV with registration number HC 9398 in my earlier post in the Hong Kong site about 164s in Alfa Day 2011. The Internet and devoted websites like this one have helped me considerably in sharing DIY knowledge and sourcing of parts and substitutes - here I wish to thank Hilko and Arjen in helping me find rare parts lately. If anyone of you happens to visit Hong Kong, let me know and I can arrange a local Alfa gathering to mingle a bit. :)

Impressive turn-out! And everyone did their best to make their cars look good. Unfortunately, the Thai AR club is no longer and the local importer/distributor is not putting any effort into the brand. I guess less than 20 new cars are sold each year. Recently, I checked the most popular 2nd-hand (and some new ones, from grey importers) car website in Thai language and there were more Lamborghini's on sale (71) than Alfa's (32).

Hello Marcus,

was reading this topic and sad to hear a very rare 24v QV will be sold in parts.
We are willing to help every 164 owner/driver to gain the parts and information to keep them driving.

Nice pictures form the Alfa Day.

Here is an update on the Red 164QV. Someone bought the QV off the previous owner at a price of about 500 Euros. I heard that the new buyer already has a few classic Alfas as well as a few exotic cars, but he has his own mechanic who is not known among our local Alfa specialists. Whatever, at least this QV was saved from salvage, and there is a chance it may re-appear at a later date.
