Hi all
As the title suggests, my bonnet release cable has snapped, at the mechanism end rather than the lever pull cabin end sadly.
Has anyone had this happen, and know how i can release the bonnet alternatively?
Thanks in advance
HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!
Re: HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!
I know this is a little late in your case, but look at the photos in this thread to see, how the system works
http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/164-168 ... cable.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think you need to get under the car and with a long tool that will not bend, you have to push the release levers in the correct direction. It will help to be to people, so the other can either press down or lift the bonnet, depending on what is needed.
Good luck!

Re: HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!
hi alfan
yeah i found that topic whilst researching, and is certainly along the lines of what i'll be doing for the future, but thats alrady with the bonnet up isn't it,
such luxury! ha ha!
so it would appear to be definitely a "from underneath" job then, not a through the front.

It was also to show which direction you have to push the release levers in (they go in opposite direction to open, towards each other).
I don't think it is possible to get in via the front, but if you find a way, please let us know!

Re: HELP! Bonnet cable snapped!
I had to do it one time because I forgot to connect the cable
It is possible from the underside, but then.. I got long arms hehehe
