Norwegian 164 QV

Post by AlfaGuzzi »

Hi 164 lovers.
I bought my 164 this Autumn, and its my third 164 3.0. The car has chassis nr: ZAR16400006262632.

The car is imported from an European country in 2001. and I am the 4th owner here in Norway. The car has changed owners quite often lately, and when i saw it was for sale again, I had to buy it, so it can be taken care of, before its to late.

Is it possible for you experts to investigate, based on the chassis number, where this car was sold new?
The car is still in a quite good condition. its red, With grey trim. and it has Recaro seats.
Ive managed to get a set of Zender Milano for it, in Germany this Winter, but I have not mounted them yet.
The car stays in the garage in Winter time, togheter With the 166 - 2.5V6 that Ive owned for 9 years now.
I will try to post some Pictures, but I will need some explaining on how to.

Best regards Atle

Welcome :) Sounds like it was time to resque it! It will be in nice company with your 166.

Exactly which 3.0L version is it and what year? I don't have info on where it was sold originally, but I think you can contact Museo Storico to find out.

There have been threads about how to upload photos recently, so if you search you should find info about it.

Welcome here, nice combo:166 and 164!

I recently posted a reply to another forum member: "you can do it by uploading your photo to one of many free photo sites. At the moment I am using https://imgur.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; No need to create an account there if you are using it infrequently; just upload the photo there, it generates a link which you place between then the uploaded photo will appear in your posting"

I hope this Picture upload work..

Its a '92 car With '93 head lights, that dont really fit nicely, before I replace the front wings With later model front wings that fit the FL lamps better.
I mounted the Zender Wheels, just to get a look at it, but its the wrong tires. 225/45-17 is being mounted on them in a couple of weeks. There is still snow outside the garage, so its no hurry.

Nice, one of the few after-market wheel designs that go well with the 164!

Yes, I think so too.
This was the 164 I sold to trade in With the 166 I still got.

Those Zender Wheels was in mint condition, and I bought them New. I sold them With the car :(

Yes the 164 and the 166 is the best of two worlds. the 166 is refine and quiet in the cabin. And the 164 is agile and fun to drive, With a much better exhaust note.

And I think the 164 is much easier to find aftermarked Wheels that fit the design of the car. Its harder to find aftermarked wheels that goes well With the 166. so I go for the original Wheels.

It would be Nice to have some Zender Sienna's but its hard to find some.

Thank you for your nice Words on my QV. Its not Perfect, but its a 22 year old car, so there will allways be something I can improve.
But its running and everything is working, so its a good start to make a very Nice car.

This is the same car 7 years ago, when it was in Perfect condition. I can still get a hold on those Wheels.
do you think those Wheels looks better on this car?

I am normally a fan of tutti originali but as the QV has a spoiler+skirts set already -and is kind of the racing version of the 164- after-market mag wheels are OK. I think both look good (are they the same diameter? The previous set looks larger?). I would just not go for these low profile (45) tires; somehow it does not fit the 164 in my opinion.

Hi Alfa East

The small Picture of the QV With the 5 spoke Wheels is 8x17" With 235/40-17 tires on.
The Zender Milanos is 7,5x17. and Im putting on Dunlop 225/45-17 in 2 or 3 weeks from now on.
Yes I aggre, 17" With 45 profile looks right on the 164.
the original 16" speedline Wheels looks right as well. Im going to have them fixed by a Professional, and use them on Alfa Meetings, and let the car look as original as possible.
on the daily basis I think that 17" give the car sharper handling in the corners.

Great photo, very nice! And remember -on those precious door handles- use them to unlock only and open (the weight of) the door using your other hand at the window frame. One of the reasons why I am so eternally gracious opening the passenger door for any co-pilot; I cringe when I see them opening it in the conventional way. My regular co-pilot knows; she's received plenty of training 8) .

Yes, this is my third 164, so i know about the weakness on these door handles. Its only me and my son who is driving/ using the car a couple of times a week. Just to keep it running problem free. Its not used for everyday transport.

Best regards from Norway :)

Hi there 164 enthusiasts

Im going to replace the whole exhaust system back to original. From the exhaust down let pipes and backwards. And finishing it with CSC exhaust mid and end exhaust cans.
I need everything between those points. (flexi pipe - Catalytic converter, etc)

where to order? I want new stuff :D
